With the Generation Z coming into picture, the basic necessities of life have expanded to include internet to the pre-existing list of food, shelter and clothing. Aditya Birla Group, with its 150 plus years of contribution, has been a marquee player amongst various manufacturers and service providers catering to all the basic necessities of an individual.
As a full time corporate professional, the two questions that I have often dealt with are, “What do I wear for the forthcoming meeting?” and “When do I eat?”
Considering familial and peer influence, to a large extent, the answer to my former question would often be “Van Huesen”. Right from the beginning of the corporate life, owing to its variety and quality, Van Huesen has been my first choice when it comes to corporate clothing. Often I educated myself regarding the recent trends in the corporate fashion sector via the list of products available under the brand name in the retail stores or on the brand website.
Owing to the rigorous working hours, I often skipped my meals because the entire process of going to the cafeteria, ordering your meal and finishing off the same consumed almost 2 hours on a regular basis. At the times of crisis, my personal home- made meal boxes often came to the rescue. Every meal box has an indispensable ingredient called aluminum foils. When it comes to choosing one from the grocery store, I barely could recall a brand apart from Freshwrapp that sold alumimium foils.
I have several times quoted my food to be “Freshwrapped” instead of just wrapped. This stands out to be a classic example of how customers start identifying products with their brand name.
In a nutshell, Aditya Birla Group has always been an essential part of my life beyond my realization.
Challenges that made me stronger
By the grace of Almighty, I have been very blessed to be born in a financially well to do family and have had the opportunity to be amidst people who have guided me and veered me to the right direction whenever I faced dilemma in taking decisions.
Over the years, I have realized that threats posed by the external factors are often not as powerful as the threats that are posed by the internal factors. Though I have never come across a situation wherein I was devoid of any materialistic resources but there was this one time during my corporate days where I had to make a decision about the future course of my career.
Considering my graduation courses and interests, midway through my tenure with the IT firm I used to work with previously, I had developed a knack towards joining the telecom industry and get myself aligned technically with the work and requirements of the field. Considering a balanced work life with the IT firm, my peers, who have worked within the telecom industry earlier, suggested me to not consider the field because of the tedious schedule. After several days of brainstorming over the available opportunities and my interests I decided to go ahead with the telecom industry job. I resigned my current profile as a software developer and joined another firm that offered me a role in the telecom industry. That day I realized that it is very important for every individual to be aware about his/ her strengths and weaknesses. Also, before one takes up any decision in life, one should be aware about the threats and the opportunities that come along with the decision made. It does not matter if your decisions do not end up on the right note or do not generate the expected returns but the basis on which the decisions are made should always be strong enough to eliminate all the “What Ifs” from one’s life.
I have always believed that it’s better to do something wrong than to do nothing. At least , one would find out what one was not supposed to do.
This was one instance, that makes me believe that no matter how tough the decision might be, with thorough introspection one could always make the right choices for oneself.
