Life has its ups and downs. But even the toughest phases can be overcome when we are really determined. Yet, many of us fail in big and small ways because we are not determined enough. This strength allows us to move forward fearlessly with hope, amidst all difficulties to reach our goal.
Back in the day when I was captaining my school cricket team in a major tournament, I faced a significant challenge in a particular match where I performed to the worst of my cricketing abilities and couldn’t contribute with both bat and ball. Being a knock out, we had to win the match to qualify for the final round. At the half way mark in the second innings, I decided to adapt my state of mind to find determination to lead my team and perform as a group, like we are meant to, keeping aside individual performance downfall. We eventually managed to win by a close margin. That day was an important learning on leadership.
Few months before my crucial MBA exams, I was assigned work in one of the largest projects to the company, which had extremely demanding clients from the USA. Through managing new responsibilities, clocking over time continuously and working on weekends, I somehow managed to get the best out of both by receiving a certificate of appreciation from client as well as by acing the exam, that had brought me here. At various crossroads, life bowls multiple googlies to make you throw tantrums out of frustration, but it’s only through these challenges that we discover ourselves well enough to face life with confidence.
Aditya Birla Group – Making differences in life
Aditya Birla Group is one of India’s biggest global conglomerates and is in the league of Fortune 500 companies. ABG operates business in 35 countries in total and employs around 120,000 people. This group has created multiple TOMA (Top of the Mind Awareness) brands in India across multiple industries.

Vodafone Idea Limited, an Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group partnership is the leading telecom service provider in India and second largest globally. This helps a common man to connect with friends and families on the go and allows communication across borders.
The biggest and my personal favourites of ABG group are the fashion apparels, with a bouquet of leading fashion brands from Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen and Peter England. These brands cater and suit to different occasions ranging from formal to casual attires.
Ultratech, the largest manufacturer of cement, apart from being a dream company for many MBA student’s post their graduation also impacts everyone throughout from their large infrastructure projects that are being used on a regular basis. The Aditya Birla Group also helps improve the well-being of society by taking initiatives in key sectors such as Education, Healthcare, Infrastructure etc., to make the environment a better place for us to live in. The Group is indeed looking to build a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of society and raise the country's human development index by making a difference through welfare-driven activities and partnering with government bodies and other like-minded organisations.
