Part – A

Any second, every second, there could be a hundred things happening around us. So much to take in, so much to absorb but over the course of time, there are only so many things we remember. One such thing I remember is helping my mother wrap my tiffin before school. While I could never learn how to tear the aluminium foil without making a mess out of it, I will never forget the name of the brand – Freshwrapp! Of course, that foil would only just result in a tiny ball to play a game of catch during recess but just thinking about those innocent times brings a smile to my face.

Only a few memories stick with us, even fewer change how we do everyday things. Lying lazily under the blanket one winter evening, I was just switching channels when I saw the iconic ‘Walk and Talk’ Idea advertisement. Amusing concept, but I consciously tried implementing the same next time I was on the phone with my friend. I tried it again the next time, and the next until it became a habit. In an increasingly fitness conscious world, I play my part. Indeed, What an Idea, Sir Ji!

Memories constitute our life, and I have the Aditya Birla Group to thank for some of them. In my opinion, there could be nothing bigger than being a part of someone’s memories.

Part – B

At the start of 2013, everything felt amazingly right. I was doing good in studies; I was the head boy of my school and had won competitions throughout the previous year. 2013 was the year I performed excessively poorly in the engineering entrance examinations and was forced to take a drop. What followed was the toughest year of my life where I had to deal with regret, loneliness, and guilt. In 2014, when I did join an engineering college, it wasn’t the experience I had hoped it would be. However, a senior told me something as simple as ‘If it isn’t good, then make it’

What followed was a struggle – to open the first Child Rights and You (CRY) Chapter in North-East India in 2015, to organize the first live TEDx event of Tezpur University in 2016, to embark on an entrepreneurial journey with Mimantri Ventures in 2017, and finally joining Digital Impact Square as an innovator in 2018. Challenges are never about grandiose. Looking back, the dots connect but it was never about the destination – it was about those granular roadblocks which made the target seem far and far away.

For each of those goals, I had to persevere. Whether that be to bring the CRY and college authorities on the same table, or convincing speakers to travel to Tezpur without full travel reimbursements for a TEDx talk. Now, it is time for the next goal - to build a more inclusive society for people with mental health problems. Challenges have hierarchies, and all I want to focus on is to keep moving forward.
