Getting selected for NITIE was the happiest moment of my and before coming to the college I went to van Heusen store to get business formals which were the first for me. While paying the bill I realized that this is an Indian brand not foreign. Searching more about the group there was a big surprise. Not just van Heusen but Peter England, Louis Philippe, Allen Solly are also Indian brand owned by Birlas.
Searching more about the group, there was one more surprise. The group has so many businesses in different sectors. From the world's largest rayon producer Grasim to Vodafone idea to Hindalco, it is everywhere. Touching and changing the lives of millions of people.
From giving cellular connectivity through Idea to pantaloons it is reaching every man of India. So easily it has become part of our life that we don't even realize that it is a Birla brand. The 'Idea' campaign was always a fun thing for me as well as a message. As a child, I never realized its motive. But reading about the Birla family and Aditya Birla group, it is more than just a company.
Everything about this family is really useful for Indian people to learn. Learnings from G.D. Birla such as abstinence from alcohol, money-saving have played a major role in Aditya Birla's life, which youth should also learn. At the same time, the way the family has motivated their children to do what they like is just remarkable for a business family. Ananya Birla working on the passion for music, Aryaman Birla playing cricket is what Indian parents should also notice. In short, it has reached every and changed every person in India.
Challanges are meant to be beaten. And those which are not beaten are the most improtant part of your life. Birla family also faced challanges in initial years be it jute business or sugar. But 100+ years down the line, they are one of the challanger to the world in business giving healthy competition to MNCs. Story of them motivates me the most.
