Aditya Birla Group (ABG), a household name in our country, is an Indian Multinational conglomerate. It handles the business house with interests spanning from viscose fiber, textiles, garment on one hand and cement, aluminum, copper and fertilizers on the other.
The facet of my life has been perpetually influenced by this prestigious group. This started right from the corporate attire realm which is dominated by brands like Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England, Louis Philippe etc.; a safe haven for professional college students like us to being the largest aluminum rolling company, silently providing the shell to our cold drinks in the form of cans, mobile cover glasses, medicines. The presence of ABG has been making its presence felt in my life since the time I heard “An Idea can change your life” in 2007.The way they transcended the conventional boundaries of business has endowed my life with a sense of purpose.
In the words of Kumar Mangalam Birla, “As we voyage into a sensational future we must find ourselves to look beyond ourselves. It is the responsibility of every generation to leave behind a safer, superior and more enlightened world than the one they inherit”, this adage plays a significant role in my life and helps me to grow better with each passing day right from taking responsibility of my Karma to contributing my bit towards a sustainable tomorrow.
My dream for our country is an India of inclusive growth, a country where every homosapien realizes his/her optimal potential just like ABG, which through an enduring passion for work, entrepreneurial spirit and high ethical standards designs the destiny of India. It has also made me a social contributor to the society. Truly, it’s an attitude and approach to thinking that actively seeks out change, rather than waiting to adapt change. This has been crucial in shaping my mindset to embrace critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement.
ABG understands the experiences that their audience craves and how every little aspect can be related to life.
They shine the spotlight upon the customer, which makes me understand the need to focus on the most important aspect of one’s life i.e. work on your strengths each day.
Life is indeed a blend of trials and tribulations; every step you take is a stepping stone towards something great. Every challenge is a milestone that opens your gateway to the final destination that you wanted to reach. I have completed my schooling from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh and have taken my own decisions from the very beginning in which my kith and kin have played an immense role. I have completed my graduation from Agartala. Going and adapting a different culture was a true test but my upbringing developed an adaptive nature in me and this helped me understand the varied culture and people in our country. I have worked in Kirloskar Brothers Limited and have had the pleasure and the opportunity to lead two teams in which we were expected to create innovative products under the program “i-mission” and our Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) congratulated us for thinking out of the box, all of this developed a leadership spirit in me, strengthened my performance and honed the innovative and creative side in me. The times which demanded smart decision making considering every aspect of environment were indeed the most challenging moments in my life. Those moments have given me strength to move forward to accept the realities and believing in thyself if you really want to break your shell. Coming to IIFT is like a dream come true, an institution which is well respected and has proven its steel in creating the finest leaders of today.
Rabindranath Tagore once said
"You cannot cross the sea merely by standing and staring at water."
I believe that self-motivation to achieve my goals and to always rise from the ashes like a phoenix is what defines me.
