Aditya Birla Group has been a big part of my live and million others. Aditya Birla group has been at the forefront on every business it has set its foot on and has been able to do so for more than a century. The group has constantly evolved and scaled new heights. The pride, the legacy and the current success has not stopped them from dreaming big. Even before liberalization of Indian economy and even before the independence the Birla group have dreamt big and went international.
The current generation of consumers are looking for various aspects in their products than just the functionality and aesthetics. Having the knowledge that the product I own has been sourced or produced in a sustainable manner has a positive impact on the sense of ownership. Aditya Birla Group has been a pioneer when it comes to sustainability efforts. UltraTech Cement has been certified as ‘water positive’ twice by the auditing agency DNV. Birla Carbon has also been awarded the ‘Golden Peacock Global Award for Sustainability’ for its efforts towards sustainability. Vodafone Idea, Hindalco, ABFRL, Birla Copper and Grasim Limited have also made tremendous efforts towards sustainability. The group has strong affinity towards social welfare and community development. Aditya Birla Group has reached out to 7.5 million people through its CSR initiatives there by benefitting the underprivileged. CSR initiatives in health care and nutrition, skill development, infrastructure and education at such a huge scale would definitely improve the country’s human development index.
All the above-mentioned facts would not be possible only by the leadership. It has to be imbibed by every member of the Aditya Birla Group. This strongly reflects the culture of Aditya Birla Group and the pride that every member gets by being associated with the group. This is why I feel Aditya Birla group is big in my life and acts as a motivator to be associated with the brands.
I would consider my journey towards achieving my ambitions to be in progress. There has always been lots of ups and downs at various stages of my life and the one thing which has kept me going is my determination and my optimism. As a general category candidate, life has always been a race on the academic front. The fighting spirit which I developed over these years gives me the constant urge to push above my weight in order survive in the competition. Keeping my head down after every success was as important as celebrating them and keeping my chin up after every set back was important to build the self-confidence and the inner strength to keep going. For a real life example, the time I failed to clear a final exam in my college was the first time I ever scored below the required pass percentage in academics. It hit me hard, but I quickly sat down and analyzed where things would have gone wrong, what could be done to rectify and what I actually learnt from the situation. The result of the re-examination proved to be one of my best performances ever. It not just proved that I am capable of performing well, but also my ability to bounce back strong after a setback. The above example was that of a short-term goal. But the lesson learnt will be carried with me forever. I see challenges as opportunities for me to test myself and prove that I am not going down without a fight.
