“A brand is a voice and a product is a souvenir.” – Lisa Gansky
The above statement would resonate with millions of people, whom Aditya Birla Group has touched over their 162-year legacy. This brand has seen the ups and downs of India right from the middle of the British Era through its independence to the power that India has become today and has stood by this country every single step of the way.
Aditya Birla Group has a brand for every single person to relate to from the oh-so-popular fashion haven Pantaloons to the tyre friendly Birla Carbon. It produces the mighty UltraTech Cement which is the cement of choice for most Engineers while also creating simple yet important chemicals to be used in bakery. Their product portfolio is one of envy for their competition.
For me, there are two such brands which hold a special place in my heart and I relate to them the most whenever I hear of Aditya Birla Group. Bengali's have a tendency to rush to malls once a year during our Durga Puja Shopping because it is mandatory to wear a new dress on each day of Durga Puja. Most of the Bengali's were thronging malls so why should my parents be any different. We would always make our way to Pantaloons for our yearly shopping spree. My Father has always had blind faith in Van Heusen, Peter England and Allen Solly and I would seldom find any other brand’s apparel in his collection. Pantaloons for me, has always been my one stop destination for clothes and I rarely walked out without finding what I intended to buy. Peter England has always been my apparel brand of choice be it casuals or formal wear. From my school life through college to the Corporate world, I have always sworn by Peter England. Their fittings and comfort level suit me the most and most importantly, it’s a complete value for money experience each and every time be it T-shirts, Jeans, Shirts, Trousers and even Suits. Today, when I sit for the orientation program in my Van Heusen Suit, I realized that Aditya Birla Group had always been there for me at every major milestone in my life be it the first day of Engineering, first day of Corporate Life and now, the start of my MBA Journey
In my 24 years of life, I have been through a lot of ups and downs. One moment which I would like to recall which shaped me as a human being was when I had to take care of my Father. A few years ago, my mother and I noticed some anomaly in his behavior. He would be lost and would not respond to our queries. He would have fits of rage and would retort in a violent nature to anything we did or said. We forcefully took him to the doctor and got to know that this was the initial stage of schizophrenia. I cannot explain how shocked my mother was on hearing this news and that face will always be etched in my mind. What followed was a grueling two-month experience which shaped me as a person. I used to be an extremely short tempered and intolerant person and would generally refrain from taking responsibilities on my shoulder. This experience changed my perception towards life. It taught me responsibility,
Here is to more such milestones being achieved together.
