How Have I Made An Impact?
When I was in 12th standard, my father lost his business. The business was the primary source of income for my family. The incident left our budgets and plans disrupted. We were in a tight spot. While my father took time to build his business back, I needed to do something to support my family, so that we can sail through this problem. At this point in time, I stumbled upon an idea to sell home-made chocolates. While my mother already knew the recipes, I watched YouTube videos to gain more knowledge about the varieties. Once we were confident of our capacity to produce home-made chocolates, I leveraged my contacts to get the first few orders. I talked to my friends, put out an FB post, gifted a few chocolates to neighbors and tried to spread the word of mouth. Soon the number and size of orders picked up. We hired a helper to help us out with the process. We started earning reasonable profits to support the family income. Meanwhile, my father was able to rebuild his business. A few months later we realized that the worst is behind us.
As all this was during when I was in 12th standard, I did have a burden to perform well in school examinations. I had to devote time to the chocolate business, which did have a bearing on my studies. However, at the end of the day, with perseverance and hard work, I was able to get a decent score in school and the chocolate business is now flourishing!
