Aditya Birla Group

Big in my life

One day, I was sitting with my fashion designer friends Van(Heusen) and Allen(Solly) and we were chilling out. We were looking at Priyanka Chopra’s wedding pictures. I said Ralph Lauren had meticulously designed her wedding gown and I wanted to wear something like that one day too. All of a sudden MBA results were published on IIFT site and I got through my dream college! Van and Allen both exclaimed that I should buy formals for my college routine from them. I said I’ll think about it and excused myself to let me call my parents who were busy making a new house taking the help of Mr. UltraTech. I asked Vodafone-Idea to connect me to my parents and let them know that I have achieved such a feat!

I was overwhelmed with emotions and I had so much to do before the college starts. I wanted to celebrate and I ordered some beverages. Hindalco Novelis reminded me to recycle used cans. Then I wanted to shop for the party my parents decided to throw. Forever 21 came and took me to her store. We bought all kinds of clothes and accessories. Some clothes were used by material designed by Liva there were so soft and flowy. Ted Baker said I should carry a nice tote bag with my formal dresses. I made the payment using ABPB BHIM app at the store and went merry along.

I came home and I saw Ms Freshwrapp had kept my food hot and fresh. I had food to my heart’s content. Then I went for a drive in lovely weather, I was speeding on the empty roads and all of a sudden I was interrupted by a cow on the road so I slammed my breaks. BirlaCarbon had done a great job making tyres, it saved my life and the cow. It was at that moment I realised how the name Aditya Birla is associated in every aspect of my life.

Challenges I faced and overcame in my life

In 2013 post my stellar performance in boards and poor performance in competitive exams I had some time to spend at home. I was a little depressed seeing my friends go to the best colleges in the country. They were already going shopping and preparing to leave their homes. I felt left out as I had to spend another 4 years without my lifelong friends in a new environment. I started losing my appetite and interest in activities I used to enjoy.

My parents were concerned and they wanted to help me. They used to play squash and motivated me to start playing with them. Initially, I was very terrible and extremely distracted. Slowly I gained perspective and my serve improved. I was constantly encouraged by my parents and that helped me the most. They were patient in my learning. Playing against the wall and taking out my frustration was one thing that was surely helping me face my fears and inhibitions. Gradually I took speed and started getting the hang of the game dynamics. I also gained an interest in some other activities. This made me proficient in squash and I could feel a sense of achievement after playing the sport every day till my college started. I tried to keep up that routine even after college started but I got so busy that I had to prioritise. I never played the sport professionally but I believe I am a good player. It was quite a different and a daunting experience I faced in my life, a challenge I overcame.
