For the fresh IIM Shillong graduate Deepam Sahu, it was his induction program that did the trick of knowing his organization Tata Steel better. Employees walking into Tata Steel, come up with this long-standing idea of the social values that Tata Steel holds, and through the induction program, this and a lot more gets an affirmation.
Working on different projects, getting an opportunity to develop the business of Aashiyana, an Individual Home Builders (IHB) platform, and interacting with stakeholders in his first couple of months in the organization, prepared him to take up further challenges.
Deepam explains how his induction helped him further to go into difficult territories and manage sales better with stakeholders. He also shares his experience on the ground and how that gave him an idea of how the real-life business works, a stark difference from the classroom lectures he had attended during his IIM Shillong days.
