This year, the highest domestic salary offered to IIM A's PGP batch dropped marginally as compared to last year. The highest international salary crossed $150,000. This year, Consulting emerged as the most sought-after function for IIM A's PGP batch, with nearly half the batch opting for these roles. - Fixed Yearly Cash Component: This is a total of the annual basic salary and additional guaranteed cash components. These additional components include cash payments and allowances that are part of the annual package. The term guaranteed signifies that the amount is certain unless, there is an overall pay revision. The components falling under this salary head are final and are not related to performance.
- One-time Cash Payment: This head indicates the value of the remuneration given to a candidate as one-time cash benefit mostly at the time of joining.
- Total Guaranteed Cash Component: This is the sum of fixed yearly cash component and one-time cash component.
- Maximum Earning Potential (MEP): This is the sum of total guaranteed cash component, maximum possible-linked variable pay and all other components of salary that are a part of the offer.

IIM Ahmedabad's 2021 MBA placement report has revealed that while the average and median salary for the batch saw a year-on-year increase, there was a marginal drop in the highest salary offered. The number of international offers extended saw a significant dip (owing to COVID). Here are all the key highlights from IIM Ahmedabad's placements process for the PGP batch of 2021.

1. The
highest domestic MEP stood at INR 55.00 lakhs and was offered for a Private Equity function in the BFSI sector. This was a marginal drop of just over 1%, and the second consecutive year when IIM A has seen a drop in the highest domestic salary offered to the PGP batch. The
highest international salary stood at $154,355.
2. The
average domestic MEP stood at INR 27.55 lakhs, which was an increase of 5%
over the previous year. The
median domestic MEP stood at INR 27.60 lakhs, which was an increase of 10% over the previous year.
Sector and Function-Wise Domestic Salary Highlights | IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2021
3. Sector-wise, the
highest median domestic MEP was offered for roles in the Consulting sector and stood at INR 29.00 lakhs. This was followed by the Engineering/Tech sector at INR 28.78 lakhs, and the Online Services sector at INR 28.75 lakhs.
4. Function-wise,
the highest median domestic MEP was offered for the Private Equity function, though only one such offer was extended to the batch. This was followed by the Consulting function (INR 29.00 lakhs) and the Finance function (INR 28.76 lakhs).
5. Sector-wise, the
highest median international MEP stood at $1,36,000 for roles in the BFSI sector, followed by $88,000 for roles in the Consulting sector.
6. Location-wise, the
highest median domestic MEP stood at INR 31.65 lakhs for roles in Delhi. The highest median international MEP stood at $1,36,000 for a role in Amsterdam.

7. A total of
374 offers were extended to the PGP batch, of which 365 were domestic job offers. Within domestic job offers, the highest number of offers were for roles in Mumbai and Bangalore.
8. A total of
9 international offers were extended to the PGP batch, which fell from the 19 international offers that were extended last year. International offers were extended for roles in locations like the Netherlands, the UAE, and Hong Kong.
9. A total of
180 pre-placement offers were extended to the PGP batch, of which 115 were accepted.
10.
Consulting was, by far, the most in-demand role at IIM Ahmedabad, with nearly 50% the batch accepting offers for Consulting roles. This was followed by Finance roles, and Product/Category Management roles.
