An MBA is a lot of things for people - a chance to get big bucks, to move up in their careers, to switch their careers, or to simply show the world that they are capable of going out there and achieving something. Everyone's reason is different. But regardless of what your reason might be to do an MBA, it all leads up to one thing - a job. For a lot of MBA aspirants, cracking CAT and other exams and then getting into a top business school is the ultimate objective. Such a myopic vision of the future is actually very normal, considering the immense amount of pressure there is to beat 2 Lakh people for 2% of the seats at top business schools - the struggle is real. Having spent an immense number of hours on InsideIIM just reading the stories around Summer and Final Placements, I have realised that it is very important to know what you're getting into; what are the doors that an MBA really opens up for you. Therefore, I have come up with this report on the various types of jobs after MBA that top recruiters offer, along with the titles you can expect to have as you progress in your career. This report may also help you in structuring an answer to the all-important - "Why MBA?", and also in preparing your CV in just the right way for placements (if and when you get to that). Process of establishing job titles - I was able to determine the job titles based on the career trajectory of current and ex-employees on LinkedIn. Therefore, please feel free to point out any discrepancies or errors in the job titles. Since everyone has varying interests depending on their academic background and/or work experience and/or general inclination, I have segmented this report into 6 major functional areas, namely -

Unilever - The organisation offers an 18-month Future Leaders Programme (FLP) across 7 of the major functional areas. The management training programme "includes international stints, extended leadership contact, formal training and professional development." After completion of the programme, the candidate is elevated to the position of Area Sales Manager. Read more about FLP here. ITC Limited - ITC offers a 12-month training programme called the Assistants Under Training (AUT), wherein selected candidates are trained across the various functions and businesses of ITC before being confirmed as Assistant Managers in the functional area of their choosing. Read everything about AUT here. Johnson & Johnson - J&J offers the International Recruitment and Development Program (IRDP), the duration of which is between 12-24 months. IRDP graduates are elevated to the role of Sales Account Manager at the organisation. Read everything about LDP here. P&G - Although P&G does not appear to have any post-MBA leadership programmes like it's FMCG counterparts, the organisations offers an "Emerging Leaders Programme" only for candidates with calls from top management institutes. After an MBA, the organisation has various internal training programmes and academies to train ABMs. RB - Reckitt Benckiser has Graduate Programmes for different domains, including Sales & Marketing. An MBA from a top management institute will undergo an 8-month management training programme, during which she/he will work with various RB 'Powerbrands' before being elevated to the role of Area Sales Manager.

Amazon - Amazon offers a Retail Leadership Development Programme for MBA graduates, after which the candidate joins the organisation as a Category Manager.

Samsung - Samsung offers a 4-month Management Training Programme to MBA graduates, after which the trainees are elevated to the role of Area Sales Manager. Colgate Palmolive - Colgate Palmolive offers a 12-month Business Leadership Programme, in which the Associate gains cross-product exposure. Upon completion of the BLP, the Associate is elevated to the role of Area Manager.

Nestle - Nestle offers a 12-month Management Training Programme, during which "Management Trainees are put through a cross-functional, multi-location training program; after successful completion of the training they are absorbed in their respective functional departments."
Upon completion, Nestle elevates the Management Trainees to the position of Area Sales Manager, who then handles one of Nestle's product portfolios for a particular region. Read everything about Nestle's Management Training Programme here.
