Animesh Kumar initiated a YouTube channel, MBA Gazette, during his second year of MBA to address declining motivation among peers. Focusing on creating awareness about the PGP Finance program at IIM Kozhikode, he conducted 40+ interviews with batchmates about their summer internship experiences. This project not only contributed to his personal and professional development but also strengthened his connections, improved communication and storytelling skills, and enhanced his abilities in video editing and content creation.
His leadership skills emerged in the context of group projects where procrastination and free-riders were prevalent issues. Animesh proactively addressed this by creating detailed project outlines, assigning tasks in advance, and maintaining open communication with team members. This approach significantly improved the quality of work and outcomes. He envisions applying these leadership skills in a professional setting by fostering proactive planning, open communication, and accountability.
As an aspiring Product Manager, Animesh plans to leverage his MBA skills, particularly analytics and business acumen, to rationalize decisions and drive growth. His experience in collaborating and managing teams will contribute to fostering a productive work environment. Effective communication, learned through creating content on his YouTube channel, will aid in conveying complex product strategies to stakeholders.
Animesh's preferred industry is the IT sector, specifically in Product Management roles. His internship at Optum reinforced his fitment in the PM role, and he envisions building a successful and impactful career in this field. His diverse skill set, positive learning attitude, and past experiences position him as an asset to any company.
His teamwork and collaboration approach were demonstrated during his involvement in organizing Nostalgia, the annual alumni meet. Facing challenges with administrative approvals and resource constraints, Animesh took the lead in handling tasks, collaborated with team members, and sought help from peers. The collaborative efforts resulted in a successful event, showcasing his ability to handle complex situations.
Animesh believes he deserves recognition as one of the Most Employable MBA Graduates - Class of 2024 due to his dedication, adaptability, and well-rounded skill set. His academic achievements, engagement in extracurricular activities, success in live projects and case competitions, and positive learning attitude contribute to his candidacy for this recognition.
