Being born and brought up in a middle-class family, the ability to select quality products at a competitive price has been deeply ingrained in me and my family’s DNA. My father used to take all of us to Pantaloons, Jaipur to fulfill our wishes and wants. I also took my first business suit for interview from Van Heusen. Later I got to know that both of the brands are run by the same business Group – Aditya Birla.
During graduation, I read about some of the big industries doing business in the country. I read about the Birla Group’s management and operations of the Company and learned how unique is its way of doing business. From purchasing a new suit for an interview to purchasing gifts for family, I learned how effectively this company has established itself into this market. I learned about Ralph Lauren through a TV series called FRIENDS, I realized how cost-effectiveness and quality have been maintained by this Company.
The Indian market has grown and so is this Company with taking bigger and better footsteps to establish themselves in the market so much that if someone looks for quality, then life basically revolves around this Group’s brands.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
During 2014, when I passed out from my school and joined college for my graduation, I was in a new city, alone with no relatives. I was among the top performers in my school and so, expected people to accept me for what I achieved and therefore took things for granted. Soon, I realized, I wasn’t being heard much, there weren't good friends on whom I could bank upon. This went on for some two months until I realized my mistake.
I started to put in efforts, be it my projects, drama club or interpersonal relations. Within a week I could see the change around me and when I graduated I could feel the respect, memories and the impact that I had made, it was all worth it. This was my greatest achievement because more than the external factors, I had to change my mindset and thought process, while living alone, out of my comfort zone. This also taught me a very important lesson that success and failure don’t define us, what defines us is who we are and what impact we leave and so, we should never stop improving on ourselves.
