How Have You Made An Impact?
Challenges are the unavoidable part of everyone’s lives. In fact, according to me, challenges are important in our life. It is a reality check on how strong you are and with every challenge, you become stronger and stronger. Challenges can be physical as well as mental. Challenges teach you to make yourself comfortable even in an adverse situation.
One such challenge I faced was at the time of my 12th Boards. I have always been a consistent performer in academics. I was the consistent receiver of the Saraswati Award for being among the top 3 in academics from the year 2005 to the year 2011. I wanted to pursue Computer Engineering in my graduation. But God had some other plans for me. I was diagnosed with Jaundice just before 15 days of my Board Examination. I was not even able to take school preliminary exam which was must to boost your confidence just before the actual exams. I was prescribed complete bed rest and was advised not to appear for exams owing to the severity of the disease. But, I was very determined at least to appear for the exams as I had been working hard for the last 2 years for this exam. So, I took the exams and scored 79% which was way less than I expected but enough to lend me admission in IT branch in one of the best colleges of Gujarat. I worked hard in the first year of my graduation and secured a rank among the top 10 in my University. Being a deemed university, our college had a provision to allow top 10 students from the first year to switch their branch. I got an opportunity and I switched from IT to Computer Science.
The important thing I developed from this incident was an attitude of never giving up. It also taught me to be ready for all the situation always as you never know what lies ahead of you.
How has ABG affected me and our society?
Aditya Birla Group is a conglomerate which can be seen in almost every sector of the market. From fashion to online banking, telecommunications to cement industry, fibres to cotton black, food wrappers to sustainability sector, it has a market share everywhere and has made an impact on millions of lives till now. ABG not only has impacted lives through business but also through many of their CSR initiatives.
Like everyone else’s, it has affected my life as well through different products they offer. It has a wide collection of clothing brands. From high range brands like Peter England to medium range brands like Pantaloons. It gives me wide variety of options from where I can chose according to my budget. Also, another brand of ABG helped me connect with my home even when I was in the rural parts of the country. Yes you have correctly guessed the brand, it was IDEA who helped me connect to my home after a daylong work in rural parts of India. And last but not the least the CSR initiatives of the ABG are one of the kind. They have programme called “Illuminating the lives of children” under which self-help groups set up solar lamps in the schools. Also Madura Fashion has launched micro manufacturing unit scheme for women, helping them become entrepreneurs.
