3 years ago, when I was talking to my mom about an MBA college located on a hilltop with a blanket of greenery surrounding it, we gave a look to each other which screamed “ THIS IS IT! "
Cut to today I have the acceptance letter in my hand and my mum next to me with a wide smile.
I decided to pursue my MBA during my graduation and immediately after completing my graduation in Mass Media (ADVERTISING), I started my research on Colleges, Fees, and Entrance exams. I started with my preparation for entrance exams but unfortunately, that's when the pandemic hit us. Even though I did take a few entrance exams like CAT and NMAT during November. I did not have much interest in pursuing an MBA during the pandemic since it was all Online. I was bummed about the gap in my career and thinking what next?
But a foundational influence in my life has always been my family and my brother suggested I get into the field and get some work experience till the time everything settles back. In a month I got a job at an advertising agency where I worked as a Social Media Executive (thanks to my previous internships). I worked there for a year and fortunately, the pandemic started to die down a little, I took my books out off the shelf and started prepping with firmness in my mind to get into SYMBIOSIS
This was in August 2022 I had roughly around 2-3 months to prepare and brush up for the SNAP exam. I knew what I could do with the time I had in my hand and suitably, I tried to narrow down my target to 2-3 colleges of Symbiosis at Pune campus. I took the exam on December 1st and got the result in January and I was dejected. I scored 23.75 out of 60. Surprisingly, I did get calls for GDPI from a few Symbiosis colleges I had applied. This is where I made up my mind about how much I wanted this and how I can get the best out of this opportunity, and it worked, it pushed me beyond my limits to go ahead and perform my best and I scored 40.25 out of 50 in my GDPI at SIDTM.
I still have this memory fresh in my mind when I was awaiting the release of the Merit list For SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE OF DIGITAL & TELECOM MANAGEMENT (SIDTM), I opened the portal around 4 in the evening, and clicked on the view result only to read ''Congratulations", that was it!
If I were to offer advice it would be that an MBA is not just about what the college offers you, it is also about what you can take from the college. The reason why I was able to convert GDPI calls with low scores was that I figured out what my strength (Talking to people) and weakness (entrance exams) was and decided to stick with a profile-based college
So, I bid you all adieu with one last line "Figure out yourself first and then chase your dreams!"
