Urvish Pandey, the Lead-Campus Recruitment & University Relations at Mastercard, has written this note on how the Class of 2020 are the chosen ones and that all good things await them! Read the entire note here!
I graduated from one of the Tier 3 business school in 2010 when organisation were just getting stable after recession. My campus offer had been rescinded & I was super angry & afraid. In desperation, I booked a one way train ticket to Pune hoping to crack something somewhere. After 8 months of job hunt ,finally I secured a contractual position with one of the Pune based firm for a stipend of Rs 7K per month. I used to travel by local bus for my daily office commute & shared a 2 BHK with 5 guys. 6 months later, my contract was renewed for another 6 months and I was asked to prove myself for the extended contract duration.
Initially I thought life had been super unfair to me and testing my patience but later when the same organisation offered me a full time position I was super happy and was feeling on top of the world!
It’s been 10 years since then. I survived and so did the batch of 2010. Our mindsets changed; failure replaced our arrogance with forced humbleness. We never took anything for granted. The batch of 2010 reinvented itself & picked up life survival skills. We were lucky. No other batch could ever appreciate life the way we did.
Class of 2020, you guys are the chosen ones now. Some of you will lose jobs/face salary cuts. That truly disappoints; but believe me, you will taste every success henceforth. Your lives & careers are just getting started. So buckle down & grind it out. Good things await you all!
Best wishes coming from one survivor to another!
Cheers!
