There are several factors which make this campus and life here unique as compared to many of the other IIMs. But I am going to mention the 3 which I feel are the major factors.

Firstly, the campus itself which is spread across nearly 220 acres is extremely well planned, designed and constructed.  The campus has been built with state-of-the-art infrastructure, built on lines of Harvard Business School. The red brick walls, the huge circular designs, the open amphitheatre, and lush greenery almost everywhere definitely makes it one of the best places to study in India.  It was also the first among the 6 new IIMs to move to the permanent campus, which naturally has a lot of benefits for all stakeholders.

Secondly, the location, i.e. Kashipur, is also a big differentiating factor. The city is calm, peaceful and scenic to say the least. The weather here is good throughout the year. It is also in very close proximity to Nainital and Jim Corbett national park, where students can go and unwind in their free time, after a hectic schedule. During the winter, we can also witness the beautiful sight of the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas. Kashipur is also part of the Industrial belt, and the institute has tie-ups with several industries around the area, which gives students great opportunities to work on live projects and enhance their skillsets.

Lastly, the student bodies. Almost everything on campus is managed by student bodies. We have nearly 30 clubs/committees and cells, ranging from something like a cycling club to a mess committee. The students who get into one of these bodies, get to experience their learnings in class, practically, and that really enhances the overall learning experience. It also helps us deal with real-life problems, and thereby be ready for the corporate/ entrepreneurial life that would follow. The fact that is fairly a new institution means, the students who join can really help build the foundation for these bodies for the years to come.

Which ABG company would I want to work for and why?

I would love to work for ADITYA BIRLA RETAIL LIMITED, as it is one of the biggest retail chains in India. Having worked in an Operations role for slightly over a year, I’ve developed a lot of interest in the field of Operations and Supply Chain Management, and I believe that my skills complement well with the said company. Supply Chain Management and Logistics are one of the major areas which contribute to a retail companies growth, especially in India, where it is still not that well developed, and I would love to contribute and be a part of that journey.
