A world that is diversified and united by a vast network of resources and yet borders are no barriers is what Aditya Birla Group has  achieved. This Indian multinational conglomerate has positioned India in the global platform as a powerful nation by networking across 35 countries conjoined into a single entity. There is almost every resource around me which is owned by Aditya Birla Group and has impacted my life in one way or the other.

During my childhood days I was excited to shift to our new house. On every visit to the construction site, I would stare at the bright yellow cement bags with UltraTech Cement written in bold black wondering how the cement actually formed the building blocks of one’s home. Fast forwarding more years ahead, when I drew my first salary, I decided to gift my father a tie. I took immense pride in taking him to a Peter England store and buying a beautiful royal blue tie. Hailing from Kolkata, Durga Puja has always been a much awaited festival in Bengal. Six months till the onset of goddess Durga and the rush and exhilaration, to be clad in the most beautiful attire, be it Indian sarees and salwar or western wear, buds inside every woman. During this time Pantaloons has always been my favourite destination and you know you are at the best fashion store when the entire city is shopping with you.

Forever 21 with its beautiful range of trend-setting western wear was always a dream. I remember asking my aunt to buy me clothes from the store every time she came to India from USA. Fortunately, Aditya Birla Group turned my wish to reality by making the brand enter the Indian market. It was the best day of my life when the first store opened at the mall near my house. During my teenage years, when social media messenger applications were not so popular, getting data pack at discount rates, was the wish of every teenager. Fortunately I used Vodafone-Idea Limited (formerly known as Idea) as my mobile phone connection and I enjoyed its benefits. The biggest brand management strategy which Aditya Birla Group took for its telecommunication business was setting up a caller tune unique to Vodafone-Idea Limited. I remember keeping its ringtone as my favourite caller tune. Also, the tagline of Vodafone-Idea Limited became so famous that every time I conversed with my family or friends and anytime someone came up with a new piece of information, everyone would chant “What an Idea Sirjee”! As a part of its CSR activities I had once read a newspaper article which talked about how Aditya Birla Group provides 46,500 children with quality education, 32000 children with merit scholarships, launches schools in the India , provides education support to thousands of unprivileged children in the country and does so much more for the education domain in the country. I was extremely moved by its initiatives towards the society. Aditya Birla Group inspired me to join an NGO and work there as an education support volunteer. Truly it has been in and around my entire life in some form or the other. It has networked the entire world into a single community with its values and commitment to serve its customers.

What is the taste of success without challenges and failures? If we fear our failures and do not fail, we are not taking enough risks. This is the mantra which has made Aditya Birla Group one of the largest conglomerates of the world. Aditya Birla Group works as a team of passionate individuals who are committed to their work. Be it expansion of business or venturing into new markets, the company has shown what it is to taste success in diversity. The biggest lesson I have learnt is not to restrict yourself in a single domain and explore opportunities to increase your versatility.

I had always focused on academic rigour in school days and never explored opportunities beyond the horizon of studies. As a result, when I reached college I realised that my batch mates were all- round achievers with excellent profiles. I could not get selected in three committees initially since I had no extra – curricular activities in my resume. Upon retrospection, I could relate to the values which Aditya Birla Group holds. It has never focused into a single business venture. It always has expanded in diverse domains and that has been its biggest reason of success. On a similar line of decision making, I took up all the opportunities in college and involved myself in every activity which made me realise my potential to balance academics and other activities as well. It gave me a lot of clarity to focus on work in a segmented format and I did well in my studies too. In 2017, I received the Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam award at my college for all round performance. That day I realised the importance of versatility in life and it has helped me immensely especially at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, one of the most prestigious B schools of the country which not only focuses on rigorous academics but all round development that includes taking part in extra-curricular activities as well.

Another challenging situation in my life was when I was suffering from depression for a prolonged period. My family was going through a difficult phase. I was unable to concentrate on my studies and had started questioning my decisions in life. However, on lines similar to the vision of Aditya Birla Group, I gathered myself up and worked to rectify the difficult situation. I also gathered motivation to be energetic and zealous enough to undo all the mistakes I had committed. I no longer kept idle and involved myself in constructive work. Every goal I set was catered with dedicated efforts and soon I was back on track in my life.

Aditya Birla Group has had an impact on every person’s life one way or the other. As for me it has helped me realise the importance of integrity, dedication , trusting oneself and versatility to achieve success in every sphere of life just as it itself has achieved
