A very famous quote states “Every great dream begins with a dreamer”. You just have to be passionate enough to reach for the stars and change the world.
I grew up in a small city called Patna, in the state of Bihar. Though it is not known for its good stories, it is definitely known for its super talented Mathematics students. Here, everyone aspires to become an IAS officer or crack UPSC exams. I was a happy go lucky kid who was always found playing with her friends, someone who never took studies too seriously. But I was an observant and had an inquisitive bent of mind. I was always eager to know about each and everything in detail and used to ask a lot of questions.
This eagerness helped me to explore my life from different angles and I gradually began taking things in life seriously. I completed my engineering and recognised my passion for doing an MBA and wanted to see myself in a particular brand’s suit- “VANHUESEN”. I’ve always had a thing for this brand. The day when I cleared my IIFT interview, the first thing in my to-do list was to get a suit from “VANHUESEN”. True to my name, I was super happy and excited to get it from my dream brand when I was living in MUMBAI. Wearing that suit was one of the biggest moments in my life. I can safely say that Van Heusen plays an important part in my life and it actually multiplied my happiness of getting into a b-school by 1000 times. Getting into IIFT was one part of it, the life after that has been so overwhelming. We had to wear our suits for the whole day continuously for a week. But wearing vanhuesen is very suitable for back to back guest lectures as it is quite comfortable even in this sizzling summer.
Life: Another Roller Coaster
Life has several ups and downs, if it goes smooth, one will seriously miss out the fun. This realisation is very important as soon as you step into your adulthood. When I completed my 10th std examinations, I decided to take admission in Bansal Classes, Jaipur to prepare for IITJEE and hence, started a new phase of my life 1100 kms away from my home. I was my school topper and so this sense of overconfidence that I would undoubtedly perform well in the exams remained inside me for a few months. Since, this was the first time I was living away from parental supervision, I was not sincere enough to complete my assignments on time and I started taking things lightly. My first reshuffling test didn’t go well and I got demoted to batch P5 from P2 (P1 being the topper’s batch). Still that feeling of cracking IIT JEE didn’t get imbibe and I ruined my first attempt after 2 years of preparation. After having several conversations with my family members, I decided to take an year off for JEE preparation. I joined a coaching centre in my hometown and started preparing again with a hope of cracking it this year. That year was full of turbulences with me having regular fights with my mother, I also didn’t behave properly with my siblings, used to shout at everybody at home with pressure mounting I started to get irritated at petty things. However, my family always understood me and motivated me to keep preparing. Finally, with the support of my parents I managed to get a decent rank in AIEEE and got into NIT Surat. I realised that if I would have taken admission in the first year itself, I wouldn’t have seen this fierce side of me ever which made me to push me out of my comfort zone.
