Why is Aditya Birla Group big in your life?

Aditya Birla group is an Indian multinational conglomerate reaching out to millions globally. It is a renowned brand touching lives of millions of people in some or the other way, including mine.

A big name like Aditya Birla became big for me when the board of Vodafone Idea approved its merger with Idea parent company Aditya Birla Telecom. I myself am a Vodafone user and that’s how Aditya Birla touched my life indirectly. The giants merged to form one of the country’s largest telecom operators. The merger between these two was catalyzed by the onslaught of tariff war launched by Reliance Jio Infocomm and this move strengthened the financial position and ability of VIL. Not only this, the Aditya Birla Group has invested into such diverse portfolios like metal business, textile, fashion, telecom and financial services and excelled in all these areas. Coming from a commerce and finance background, the financial decisions taken by the company provide a lot of learning to many individuals like me.

It is the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate behind Tata Group and RIL. It is big not only in terms of its revenue but also in its presence as they operate in 35 different countries and in terms of the employment that it generates. It employs around 120,000 employees worldwide.

A company that big not only in numbers but also in the kind of decisions that it takes, who wouldn’t want to be a part of it? Almost each one of us is a part of Aditya Birla Group, either directly as an employee or indirectly as a consumer just like me.

How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?

I would be lying if I said that challenges do not scare me. They definitely do for a moment but that does not stop me from doing what I always want to do. I always had a passion for theater which is a total contradiction of my academic background. I always wanted to act in and direct street plays. During my under-graduation days, I joined the drama society of my college.

The challenge was time management. I am the kind of a person who wants to be good at what he does and that needed efforts and time. Not only did I want to perform well in academics but also, I wanted to give time to sports along with theater. I loved playing Volleyball, table tennis, pool and many other games. I didn’t want to restrict myself from doing something just because I did not find enough time. So, I decided to do all those things that I like and manage time accordingly so as to find time for everything. Initial few days were very tough since theater required late night brain storming sessions and meetings and playing sports made me feel exhausted. I was struggling to cope up with my academics. But I always believed and still believe in 21-day rule which is a method of doing/saying/being ‘something’ for 21 days, to make your ‘something’ become a habit. I followed a strict routine for 21 days and though I got tired, I did not stop. Eventually it became a routine for me and I got used to it and continued following my passion along with my academics.
