It’s been almost a month since I joined SIBM and to be very honest, the journey till now has been pretty amazing. Sure, there have been ups and downs but the good weighs over the bad. On this vast hilltop campus, the weather and the scenic beauty are not the only perks that we receive. The people that we meet form an important part of this journey. We have multiple campuses in Lavale, which consists of students hailing from different parts of the nation, some from outside the country as well. It’s their personality, behaviour, humour and many other things that make this very place lively. So far, I have met over 300 people but some of them have really left an impact due to their dynamic personalities.
In this article, I shall try to introduce some of them.
1. Sahejpal Singh- He is one of the coolest guys I have ever met. To describe Sahej in a couple of words, he is optimistic, jovial and benign. If I’m ever in a bad mood, all I need to do is meet him for some time and I end up smiling, at the very least. The man is always jolly. It makes me wonder what is the key to his happiness and simultaneously boosts me to learn to ignore the negative vibes.
2. Abhyudaya Swamy- Better known as ‘UD’ or ‘Swamy’, Abhyudaya is a care-free, bold and independent guy who doesn’t restrict his life to the stereotypical norms of the society. He, in the true sense, is a globetrotter. I have heard many stories and seen pictures of him travelling alone to a variety of places on his Royal Enfield. That gives me the confidence that maybe someday, I could do the same.
3. Sujit Sahoo - The term ‘comedian’ suits this guy because there is no one funnier than Sujit on this campus. He is great at mimicry and we end up forcing him to mimic someone or the other almost every day. The man has become famous already and it’s just been a month. When he enters the class, people start clapping and cheering for him. This guy taught me how to use jokes as a medium to alleviate stress.
4. Sekhar Chowdhury- Last but certainly not the least comes my roommate Sekhar. This guy is focused. He knows he is here for a reason and nothing comes in his way. The adjectives punctual and disciplined describe him and he lives by his ethics despite the distractions.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
The Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, India. The group had a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in the year 2018. So, naturally, every Management student in his/her right mind would want to be a part of this behemoth of a group. I, personally would want to be of ADITYA BIRLA CAPITAL LIMITED. Since I specialize in Finance, ABCL would give me the right platform to work in the corporate sector. Asset Management is a job profile which I like and since that is just one of the many profiles that ABCL has to offer, I feel I would receive the right exposure and training to excel in that field.
