After completing my engineering, I joined a product-based IT company as a Database Developer in Mumbai. While working, I also developed this ambition of doing an MBA from one of the prestigious B-schools of India.
My typical work life involved a 10-hour job in the office, a travel time of 1 hour and then some occasional work would come after I reached home at night. This meant that even if I was able to manage my time efficiently, I will not be able to dedicate more than 3 hours a day for studying. With such a work environment, it was physically as well as emotionally draining for me to start studying for the MBA entrance exams.
But I never let that pull me down, and I started micro-managing my schedule to achieve the best out of it. I used to study for 3 hrs in the night after I came from the office, stay awake till 4 am and made this a habit. I also covered all the time lost during weekdays, in the weekend by studying for 8 hours a day. At the start it was really difficult to manage both, both slowly I got used to it.
The other thing which I did was, I focussed on a selected set of entrance exams, rather than just give all the exams. This helped me further channelize my strength and I was able to get into NMIMS which is one of the top b-schools in India. From this experience, I have learned that dedication and consistency are two key factors in overcoming any challenge in your life
