The Covid-19 virus has led to one of the biggest epidemics the world has ever seen. It has now taken over and we are all affected by this. India recorded its first case of Corona Virus back in January 2020 and the numbers have been increasing ever since. With its exponential rise, the country, along with the world, has seen a major loss of lives, jobs, resources, and opportunities. The extent of severity with which this infestation has hit us is not limited to our physical lives. It has also had a similar, if not worse, toll on our mental health.

Among those worst affected by this disaster are the students of various top engineering and management colleges. As a mandatory part of their curriculum, most of these students are required to complete a summer internship project which is further graded as a credit course. The summer internship also serves as the first corporate exposure for many of the students who are freshers and still haven’t had a stint in the corporate world. The takeaways from this internship are unparalleled and play an extremely crucial part in shaping the careers of these future leaders. Since the lockdown, companies have shut down their offices and this has led to either cancellation or indefinite postponement of the summer internships scored by the students. This has led the students in a frenzy as they are uncertain about their future in regard to the internships.   The business environment is increasingly becoming uncertain and complex due to this pandemic. In rapidly changing environments, one rule of thumb applies: If you don’t adapt, you don’t survive. During this period, Frinza.com, an AI & ML oriented gifting E-commerce Company, based out of Bengaluru which provides pan-India delivery with services across 5 countries, has shown an initiative and has taken some measures towards the amelioration of the situation. The start-up had already completed and closed its hiring drive for this year back in November 2019 but seeing the current situation, Praveen Singh, Founder & CEO, has now reopened the hiring process to help out the students in need.

Commenting on the situation, Praveen said, “Me and my HR team have been receiving a number of emails regarding the issue, based on this one can reckon the level of anguish and frustration that the students are going through. The worst part of all this is that many of these students had already scored commendable internships in some of the best corporate firms in the country. The best we can do at this time is to give the deserving ones among them a chance to get back on track and not be affected by this godforsaken situation.” Praveen also believes that this initiative of Frinza will in turn motivate other companies to do the same thus creating a chain which can prove beneficial for the business ecosystem and the students.

As a socially responsible company, the management at Frinza felt it to be their duty to look out for the students whose careers lie in jeopardy due to the ongoing situation. They decided that they will be creating a quick response team (QRT) within their HR department to lend a helping hand to the students. Their new division will be managing and mentoring the students who are feeling helpless and are desperately looking for summer internship opportunities. They will also be providing guidance to the students in need and thus help them in carving a niche for themselves in the corporate world. Further details can be found on their website Frinza.com or on their LinkedIn page.
