We all know about the brand Grasim and the first thing that comes to every Indian's mind when they hear about Grasim is 'Trust'. The story of Grasim being a part of my family starts before I was born. It all started when my great grandfather tailored his first piece of suit made out of Grasim's textile. Those were the times when customers used to be very loyal to a product they used and loved. This was exactly what happened with my great grandfather. He was a poor man at that time and owning a Grasim suit was considered luxury on those days. He was very proud of that suit. That trust and pride were transferred to my grandfather who never had a second thought about the textile he would choose for his suit. It was always Grasim. He was very fascinated about suits and even being from a poor family he always tailored suits made of Grasim's textile and nothing else. My grandfather used to proudly show his suits to me he owned back in his days. I still remember he used to say me, "If you wear a suit made of out of Grasim you won't settle for anything else". He also mentioned the texture and smoothness of the textile always gave him a satisfying feel that no other cloth had.
This legacy of owning a Grasim suit in my family didn't end at that. My father is also very fond of Grasim suits and his most favorite suits are made out of Grasim. The pride and trust he has on Grasim is unmatched. The one thing I learned from my family is that; memories and trust play an important role in choosing a brand. My first suit was also made out of Grasim's textile and it has also created impactful memories in my life. One of my biggest achievements in life has a connection with the Aditya Birla Group. I wore that suit during several MBA interviews and finally I got through NITIE-Mumbai.
My approach towards all the difficulties is to stay calm and face the challenges. Everything that happens with us makes sense and we are not in control of every situation. So, whenever I face a difficult situation, I try to find a solution rather than worrying about it.
One of the biggest challenges in my life was to get into a top-notch MBA college. I always had a dream of being a manager. During my B.Tech 3rd year I took CAT-2017 in which I didn’t fare so well. In my final year of graduation, I cracked jobs with profiles that were not correlating with my dream. Then I took a bold decision to drop a year and decided to go for CAT-2018. Being a fresher it was a challenge. Most of the people around me were skeptical about my dream but I tried to overlook all the bad vibes in and around me. I started my journey of preparing from CAT-2018 by reading the book ‘Think and Grow Rich’. This book ignited a fire within me and I was all set to give my best effort. All those months preparing for the exam was challenging and tiring. So, I always tried to relax when I felt exhausted. Being in touch with my friends and family also helped me in cheering up which enhanced the learning process.
Thankfully, I fared well in my exams and I was shortlisted by many top MBA colleges in India. Finally, I got through NITIE-Mumbai and I take it as one step toward my ambition. This is just one of the many challenges I faced over my lifetime. But, for me, my endeavor towards my dream doesn’t end here. It is just the beginning.
