My journey at MDI so far has been intriguing and equally grilling. When I look back at the last one month at this place I can say that I have been through various wonderful and unique experiences whose effect I already feel on myself. Right from day one, this place has broken my ideas and conception of how a management graduate’s life would be and turned it into a fun ride involving attending various meetings and meeting multiple deadlines. This place is different, too fast and hectic but at the same time, a collectively wonderful experience. The funny part of this experience is that whenever I felt too proud of myself for making it here, to one of the top B-schools in the country, I got reminded that I had a long way to go.
Where most part of the day is filled with attending classes and meeting deadlines, I have to ensure that I spend some part of it in washing my clothes. With a schedule so hectic, gym isn’t an option but I don’t feel so bad because filling water in the water coolers compensates for most of the missed exercise. Some days, I got to sleep for 10 full minutes in the afternoon and some better days, I managed to sleep before 2 am. Being out of my comfort zone there have been multiple challenges I faced so far but what’s wonderful though is the strength this campus imparts in us to deal with all of this.
Most of us joined MDI to be shaped into great leaders and the path this college takes to ensure the same is to break us before making us. The amount of rigour this campus puts on us is key to help us learn to manage stress and achieve targets with limited resources. What’s unique about MDI though is the way it teaches us to deal with challenges. There is something special about this place because nothing seems out of reach anymore, all that is needed are a few sleepless nights of brainstorming to achieve what we want.
The Aditya Birla Group is one of the prominent groups of companies in India. From all the eminent companies at ABG, I would like to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd or Pantaloons. Shopping was always a craze right from childhood. I have been in the consumer’s shoes and understand what a person seeks for when he enters a store. Through my experiences, I believe I can add value in providing good customer experience. In addition to this, my interest in marketing would help me contribute immensely to this field. I am eagerly waiting for the next decade in retail shopping and hope to play an important role in it.
