ABG and Reinventing Big are a match made in heaven
Aditya Birla Group, established in 1857 by Mr Seth Shiv Narayan Birla, is one of the biggest conglomerates that India has ever produced. The communication from the group emphasizes the vision the leaders of the company have put in place,
“To be a premium global conglomerate with a clear focus on each of the businesses”
The group comprises of 35+ companies operating in 8 sectors having a total of 47 brands, perfectly explaining the rationale behind the latest campaign from the group – “Big in your life”. You go into any of the basic requirement and you will definitely come across one of the group companies – be it your apparel shopping, the Bandra-Worli sea link you use, the aluminium foil you use or the construction of your dream house – the group connects you with your needs. It is not just about covering India’s needs but the global needs as well. With a presence in 34 countries, Aditya Birla Group has redefined the very definition of “big”. And it is not just about satisfying the needs, it is about the manner in which you run your business. Quoting Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group,
“I reiterate that, if living by our values means, perhaps growing at a pace slower than we would otherwise have liked, so be it. For us, leadership lies at the heart of knowing what we stand for.”
The company has stood by these words and has been pioneering the movement towards sustainability goals, exceeding the expectations of the global demography. Big is what big does and Aditya Birla Group hasn’t let us down in any manner.
Only internal desire is sustainable
I am not from a poor family, never have I ever been deprived of quality education, never had to be at the mercy of a third person to get what I wanted, have been blessed with sound mental health and great physical ability. What can I say when asked about the challenges I have faced in my life when everything I have done in the past seems to be easy?
Or was it not……………?
The human mind is a malleable organ – you feed whatever you want and it will respond in a similar fashion. You hear and feel optimism, the mind will reciprocate optimism in all you do. You think constantly about pessimism, then you tend to look at all the possibilities of failure in everything you do. The mind is similar to glass items kept in a box – it is fragile and has to be “handled with care”.
The biggest challenge was, and still is, to understand the way my mind works and steer it in the direction I want; to constantly become better at what I do. And the most important thing is to not let success get to my head. After having read multiple self-help books to master streamlining my thought process, nothing beats the following words,
“No matter where you stand in your life, always think about the following
- All those who make you insignificant when you compare yourself with them
- The not so fortunate souls, unlike you, and what all you can do for them.
-Mom”
