The Aditya Birla Group has been a big part of my life since the beginning. My father wears Louis Phillippe Suits. He told me about the group. The Aditya Birla Group was one of the biggest conglomerates in India with interests in metals, cement, apparels, and financial services. Then during my farewell party of Class 12, my father bought me a Louis Phillippe suit. It was a black suit, which looked really simple and classy. I took a liking to it instantly. That suit has been with me through thick and thin. I have danced, cried, been to parties and interviews in that suit. That suit has been with me through every important juncture in my life. That is why I have such an association with the group.

The second brand that has been with me is UltraTech Cement. We used it to build our house. The house in which I spent my childhood. The house, which has all the memories of my childhood. It is where I used to play in my grandfather’s lap, where my grandmother used to feed me. It is where I made life-long friends. The sense of pride of my parents of owning their own house, the fun birthday parties with my friends, meeting my father’s friends when we invited them over for dinner. There are numerous stories linked to the house, where we still reside. UltraTech Cement was crucial in its construction. It laid the foundation of our house. The house stands tall, even after 12 years, with minimal repairs. Therefore, the Aditya Birla Group is such a big part of my life. Louis Phillippe and UltraTech Cement have been the two brands that have stayed with me since my childhood. They are associated with my memories.

How I overcame Challenges in my life

There have been many events in my life so far, which have made me laugh and cry as well. There have been obstacles that have tested me to my core. They have made me realize who I truly am. Therefore, I shall be grateful to them always. However, getting over them took more effort than I have ever put in in anything. It is my journey of reaching into a top B-school. I had started preparing for multiple MBA exams in the penultimate year of my engineering. I put in long hours to understand the nuances of the subjects. However, as luck would have it, I was not able to perform to the best of my abilities on the day of the exams. This left me devastated. I was sure of my abilities to crack the exam. However, reality sank in. I was left clutching at straws. I did get shortlisted to a few colleges. However, I held myself together and started preparing again.

I started my preparation early this time, started taking mocks and revising concepts. Everything was going great. I was getting better at solving the problems. This time around, I scored a decent percentile. I was elated. I appeared for the interviews. However, luck was not on my side that year also. I could not clear the college I wanted. I was frustrated with myself and decided not to take MBA exams that year. I appeared for Bank PO exams and cleared them in my first attempt. I was placed with Central Bank of India at Bangalore. These nine months were very fruitful for me. I learned how to work in teams and how to handle customers. I met different people every day, who spoke various languages. It was a challenge for me for the first few weeks to understand what they were saying. However, it got better with time. I used to learn the language from the local residents, be it customers or staff members. I used to prepare for my exams after returning home for the day. It taught me time management and prioritization. I cleared the exams this time around and appeared for the interviews. Finally, I did convert the college of my dreams and I am writing this story sitting in its hostel. The constant support of my family and my dream to study from one of the top B-Schools helped me get through to IIFT. I could not be happier.
