Everything has a story, a reason for existence and I consider myself to be a sum of efforts of humanity.
Look around you, the clothes that you are wearing, the device you are viewing this on, the very roof above your head, the ability to communicate with your loved ones at a touch and the list goes on; all are possible because there was someone who made it his/her livelihood to make it so. And if you are sitting in India or have been to India once, chances are that most of the things from the above list were a problem before. It was someone at the Aditya Birla Group, who saw them as an opportunity and simply solved them. But, why do some names remain across centuries and others are washed away with the waves of time?
As a management student, I was made aware that these are not accidental choices made with isolated characters but rather a symphony carefully orchestrated by a maestro who acted with principles. Mr. Ghanshyam Das Birla, represented a synergy between commerce and traditional values and his contributions to the great struggle of nation’s independence is the starting point of how ABG influenced every Indian’s life- by giving the generations yet unborn, including my parents and me, a space to be nurtured in a sovereign nation, rife with possibilities. The scale at which Aditya Birla Group operates shows how its influence has dramatically increased, from its humble cotton trading days in Rajasthan to a multinational behemoth that it is today, I state this with a hint of national pride.
The myriad of products ranging from ‘Freshwrapp’, that helped me smile during lunch hours in school upon the sight of hot food to the ‘Pantaloons’ outlets that allowed me to express myself through fashion is just the tip of the iceberg of how Aditya Birla Group is big in my life. Aditya Birla Group’s offering that helps facilitate the economy, for instance, Ultratech cement’s contribution to infrastructure building or the insulation solutions to the Indian power grid industry; all are the invisible ways their work is helping me to actualize myself. Aditya Birla Group is not only an influencer of the past but a constant force shaping the future with their vision of compassionate capitalism and their huge contributions to sustainable business models that will make sure that the planet remains a flourishing space of hope and options for young people like me.
