Life has always been full of struggles. Yet it found ways to take me out of those hardships and evolved an even stronger persona in me.
College was the first time ever when I had to come out of parents’ comfortable ‘shelter zone’. Thereon I realized my personality had nothing more than stellar academics. Though I used to sing in choir in school, I always skipped taking part in competitions since that could have cost me a lot of study-time. College was very overwhelming initially. But I took this challenge well and gave my first ever stage performance. No wonder it still gives me jim-jams while I recall the same. It took me a second to get hold of that nervous self and sing. Moments later I could hear the whole auditorium cheering up in applauds and smiles. This was my first ‘Eureka’ moment.
While exploring my skills beyond academics, I still did well in academics. Learning and working hard towards a goal was imbibed in me very early. It runs in the DNA. I always knew the good times in life don’t come easy, you have to strive for it. This emotion took me to nearby slums of the college and with a group of 5 batch mates I started evening classes for the underprivileged. We had set up outside a temple and had 12-15 students daily. One of these days, a little girl came up to me and gave me a pen. I asked her to use a pencil in notebook and keep this pen safe for class 5. While firmly holding that pen she said, ‘Happy teacher’s Day Ma’am’.
I was speechless. She could’ve used those 5 bucks for some toffees or chips or any other thing of her choice. Yet she chose to buy me a pen. An unknown ambition was achieved. Eureka two.
The college journey ended well with my first job via campus recruitment. Office space shaped me well into a corporate. I learnt working in teams, achieving deliverables, working under pressure and speaking up. I understood how organizations work and the impact employees have in achieving results. Coding late into the nights and waking up early for client calls because you cannot compromise on the quality at any cost, taught me a lot in terms of delivering my efficiencies in parallel with organization goals. All my earlier Eureka moments led me to achieving even more here. Completion of project goals before timelines led me to an early promotion. Eureka two made me the core team member of the organization's CSR team wherein I got many opportunities to work for the underprivileged.
All the struggles in my life led me to some or the other ‘Eureka’ moments.
And I have been constantly learning from them!
