Aditya Birla Group is one of the largest multinational conglomerates of India. Since 1857, it has been a big part of our life.  The various products from various sectors have impacted the lives of Indians in a massive way. The banking sector of ABG, which has created the Bhim App has influenced digital payment in India. Bhim app made it so easy for me to transfer money from anywhere to anyone. The No. 1 cement in India, Ultratech cement has improved the road infrastructure of our country. The buildings of IIFT are also made of Ultratech cement. Among all the sectors, the sector which impacted the most is fashion. My all-time favorite store Pantaloons made it possible to find clothes and accessories of various brands under one roof.  The fashion sector fulfills all the fashion requirements for all the section of the society. One hand Forever 21 takes care of my dresses for parties and on the other hand, Van Huesen and Allen Solly takes care of my formal and corporate looks at IIFT.  Peter England helps to find gifts for my father and brother easily. An international brand like Louis Philippe always keeps you updated with the latest fashion trend. The operations of Hindalco, Grasim and other units facilitate better trade and commerce in the country and add to the GDP figures immensely. Birla modal has contributed in a humongous manner into the country’s textile industry. Brands like Corino, Delice etc. have influenced the chemicals sector of India.

The CSR activities of Aditya Birla Group have been tremendous and it has helped a lot to change and improve the condition of Indian society. It has reached out to 7.5 million people by working in  5000 villages and also treated over a million patients by running 20 hospitals along with 5000 medical camps. It operates 56 schools for 46500 school children and also provides solar lamps and mid-day meals to them. 95000 people are now working and earning because of the ABG skills training program. By improving the Indian society, ABG has impacted the lives of every single Indian.

"How I overcame one of the biggest challenges of my life"

During my B.tech at NIT Durgapur, I was involved in various kind of extra-curricular activities. One of my major work was social media marketing for my clubs. From this, my interest in marketing started to grow and then I decided to pursue an MBA. It was not easy for me to prepare for the semester, placements and MBA entrance exams altogether. The peer pressure of jobs forced me to sit for placements and to get a job. Another major problem was that most of the MBA entrance exams used to happen during our 7th semester. As I used to stay in Durgapur and the exams used to happen in Kolkata, I had to travel back and forth which made it very hectic for me to give the exams and as a result, I could not crack IIFT exam in the first go. After the completion of engineering, my parents wanted me to join a company just to be on the safe side, but I did not like the job as Chemical Process Engineer at all. It was really hard for me to convince my parents that I wanted to take a gap year to prepare for MBA entrance exams. I knew I was taking a big risk by not joining a job but MBA was something I really wanted to do, so I took that risk. I took it as a challenge and tried my level best to prepare for all the exams for the next 6 months. I prepared well for the interview processes also and the day when I saw my name on the IIFT Delhi merit list, I knew I have overcome one of the biggest challenges of my life. Now studying at IIFT makes me realize that all those hard works were totally worth it.
