Whether it was the decision of leaving a high paying cushy job or a decision to take up a challenging assignment at work, whether it was a decision of directing a short film or learning a new instrument I always stretched myself beyond my comfort zone. I had my share of failures, but every time I pushed myself beyond my comfort zone, I learned something new and those learning made me what I am today.
Being an active learner I always love learning and exploring new things. Whether it’s learning a musical instrument like the Violin or directing a short film for a college level competition, I enjoy the process, the challenges and the sense of excitement that comes with them.
Enjoying the process has always allowed me to excel at whatever I did. Be it excelling at academics or being a top performer on the job and winning a couple of awards, focusing on the process and trying to find ways to improve it has always helped me achieve the desired results in an efficient manner.
I don’t fear to face challenges. I love solving them. Be it complex or simple I enjoy working on them. I don’t give up on problems for which I’m not able to find the solution. I have the patience to solve the problem and an open-mind to learn about things which I’m not aware of. I believe that this characteristic of mine made me stay strong in any challenge that I faced so far or will face in future.
Working at Deloitte not only gave me an opportunity to put my technical skills for business use but also to develop my interpersonal skills. I was also introduced to the idea of disrupting yourself in order to create a better version. I use these principles to step up in my personal and professional life. I don’t hesitate to challenge normally accepted conventions if I feel they are reasonable. Being an analyst I successfully led a team of 4 consultants in a challenging time constrained assignment, which will usually be the other way round in any consulting firm. I took up the responsibility as I believed I was capable of doing it and was able to convince the management about the same. I could not have pulled it off without the support of the consultants I worked with and we made a great team.
