What makes IIM Trichy unique?
The Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli, also known IIM Trichy, is the only IIM situated in Tamil Nadu. It was the 11th IIM to be established in India. IIM Trichy was founded in the year 2011. It provides high -quality management education to young minds and working professionals. It has a batch size of nearly 180 students. It offers two year full time post graduate programme in Management, Fellow management programme for doctoral candidates and Post graduate programme in Business Management for working executives.
The institute initially operated from NIT Trichy campus and was among the first from the second generation IIMs to move into their own campus by mid of 2017. IIM Tiruchirappalli was ranked 15th in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) management school ranking of 2018.
The IIM Trichy new campus spans an area of 175 acres with state of the art buildings. The administration and academic buildings are ultra-modern and groundbreaking. It has its own sports complex and a futuristic library under construction which are expected to be completed by end of this year. The hostel facilities are remarkable. Each student is provided with an air-conditioned room with all the features which will aid them in their studies and meets all their needs.
IIM Trichy provides numerous opportunities in electives course selection and extracurricular activities. With the new campus functional and as achievements of each batch and alumni galore, IIM T is all set to go beyond the tag of new IIMs.
IIM Trichy has a strong student council and several clubs and committees. It has a wide range of academic and non-academic clubs namely CulComm, Rangmanch, Persona, LiTrichy, FinvesT, SigmaEta, E-cell and so on.
IIM Trichy conducts many events every year. Dhruva is a cultural and management fest held in the second half of the month of October. Sanskriti is an annual war of sections, Sangram is an inter-IIM sports meet and Kurukshetra is an inter-section sports tournament. E-Summit is an entrepreneurial summit held in the month of November. HR Conclave is an industry-academia interaction event focused on Human Resources. Godrej LOUD event was conducted in July and IIM Trichy was the only second- generation IIM to be selected for the event.
Thsenior-junioror relationship and interaction is very remarkable. The seniors guide the first years in all the required fields like placements, club and committee activities.
IIM Trichy is drafting a proposal to establish a passenger ropeway between Srirangam temple town and Rockfort, river front development and promotion of medical tourism and an innovation hub figure among 10 thrust areas in the Trichy District Development Plan which will transform the city into an attractive destination. Tiruchirappalli or Trichy is one of the heritage cities of Tamil Nadu. Trichy is famous for Rockfort Temple, Srirangam temple and many more. Trichy is the fourth largest city in Tamil Nadu. The city spans an area of 167.23 square kilometres. The city was initially under the rule of Cholas but later on was ruled by Pandyas, Pallavas, Nayak dynasty and the British. The city is also known for having biggest education institutions in India namely NIT Trichy, IIIT and IIM Trichy. Industrial units like Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited- BHEL, Ordance Factory and Heavy Alloy Penetrator Project have their factories in Trichy.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and Why?
The ABG Company I would like to work for will be Aditya Birla Science and Technology Company Private Limited (ABSTCPL). It is the corporate research and development centre for the Aditya Birla Group. It offers services in the following areas: High performance computing, Analytical sciences, Process scale-up and Knowledge centre. I am an engineering graduate with a specialization in Information Technology. I have worked in a service oriented company for almost three years withhands-onn experience in multiple programming languages. My work made me think logically and innovatively to resolve the issues and development of new applications. So I think ABSTCPL would be fitting for my background as I could incorporate my skills better in this field.
