What makes IIM Trichy unique?
IIM Trichy has been a dream come true experience for me like many others here. An IIM is an institute the whole nation looks up to and to live that journey in the state of art campus is an added bonus. The faculties, classrooms, hostels and other facilities have helped a lot in keeping up with academic rigor. But the best thing that happened to me during the first year is my class, Section B.
We were one crazy lot, consisting of nerds, sports enthusiasts, introverts, artists, pranksters, meme makers and who not!
We gelled in very well once we moved onto the new campus. The one event that was the most memorable for me was ‘Sanskriti’, a sectional war between the
sections. We had several events conducted by the cultural committee and all sections gave in their best shot. There were literary events, music and dance events and other online events in Sanskriti. Amidst our academic works, the Sanskriti days were too hectic, but we stilled loved it to bits. The events also was a platform where the unknown talents of some were uncovered and even the introverts performed on stage confidently. In the end, we won the Sanskriti trophy and we proved that we are the best section in all regards.
We also have some very interesting individuals in our class. My neighbours in the class were from Karnataka and Telangana. Though they looked very serious initially, they became more and more fun as terms progressed. Their sarcastic comments and lame jokes were the ones that kept me awake during the 8.30am classes. Die-hard fans of the South Indian ‘superheroes’, they will go fight with anybody who dares to insult the superstars. The Whatsapp group for our class is also very active as we have an official meme maker in class who, very punctually portrays every funny incident into a meme.
All in all, my life in IIM Trichy has been a rollercoaster. There have been ups and downs every other day, but I have enjoyed every bit of it. I hope to continue this in the second year and enter my corporate life with the rich experiences from IIM Trichy.
What ABG Company would you want to work for and why?
I am very much into the field of Marketing and Analytics. I would like to work in a position that would effectively integrate both these concepts. Amongst the ABG companies, the company which I am most interested in is Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. ABFRL is India's No 1. Fashion Lifestyle entity growing at a rate of 10 per cent and EBITDA of INR 476 crore for FY'17 that has grown at 18 per cent over the last year. Retail industry and consumer behaviour are areas I would like to work in. I have also interned in a similar area where my objective was to gather consumer insights through market research and measure the effectiveness of the TVCs.
