What makes IIM Trichy unique?
Every institute has its uniqueness and the same goes to IIM Trichy as well. Located in a small city in Tamil Nadu surrounded by lots and lots of religious places gives it the feel of an extension of heaven. Being an IIM in itself makes it stand out from the rest of the other colleges but there are many reasons as well which make it stand out among the remaining lot. Though it is considered as a part of the second generation IIMs, popularly called the ‘baby IIMs’, it has managed to carve out its place in the industry, that too with flying colors. Its recent NIRF ranking of 15 speaks volumes about it. It is the fastest growing IIM among the second generation IIMs. It’s a true example of the quote, ‘Actions speak loader than words’.
Starting from the very first aspect, its faculty, it has few of the best minds from academia and industry who share their knowledge and experiences which give us an actual taste of the outside world. They are approachable and solve even the silliest of doubts as they believe in laying a solid foundation.
IIM Trichy stands true to our director, Mr Bhimaraya Metri’s vision – ‘To nurture a learning environment, for the creation and dissemination of management knowledge by integrating global standards to develop leaders of enterprises who add value to society, and to be a partner in nation building’. The orientation during the very first week gave us a taste of the efforts that the institute is putting in achieving this vision. Several famous personalities from the industry visited our campus for guest lectures who touched upon a spectrum of topics – growth as an individual, their career ups and downs, social entrepreneur etc. which inspired us to put our best put forth and capitalize on all the opportunities that IIM Trichy provides to us.
Another such opportunity is ‘The International week’ hosted by the institute, a one of a kind event hosted by any other IIM. Faculty from reputed institutes all across the globe visited the campus to teach subjects as per their specialization. This gave the young budding leaders of the country, an opportunity to see things from a global perspective. It also is the first IIM to be a part of the globally renowned CFA Institute University Recognition Program.
The institute has left no stone unturned to provide students with the best facilities. It has one of the best campuses in India, with world-class facilities that is at par with many national and global institutions and the completed campus would be a place worth visiting.
Another trait that distinguishes it from the rest is its gender diversity. The gender ratio for the most recent batch is nearly 50%, a feat rarely achieved by any other educational institute in India.
Last but not the least, an inevitable part of any industry or institute, the HR i.e. the student community. All decisions regarding the student community are taken by the student governing body and the faculty mentor but the student council has an upper hand in decision making. This provides the students a kind of giving a pseudo experience of team management, leadership before joining the corporate world.
In the near future, we can foresee it among the top 5 institutes of India with global accolade.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and Why?
Being a regular customer of ‘More.’ and Pantaloons, I can relate to the working of certain aspects of these stores i.e. the retail stores. Given an opportunity I would like to contribute to these stores. For instance, a change in the layout or product categories displayed in the stores would have a direct effect on the buying pattern of the consumers and hence, affect the profitability of the ABRL group as the visibility is very high.
