This section of the SNAP 2015 exam will have 40 questions. You must try and allocate not more than 25-30 minutes for this section. The important topics are as follows:
1- Vocabulary
This section will consist of 20 questions. There would be 5 questions directly on vocabulary (Synonyms, Spellings, Antonyms etc.). Vocabulary Usage would have 10 questions (like Fill in the blanks etc.) and the remaining 5 questions could be from word usage, idioms etc. You can expect around 4-5 questions based on Idioms so focus on it. This is the most important section where many students could lose out on marks. If your vocabulary is good, this section will be easy to solve and shouldn’t take time.
2- Reading Comprehension/ Passage
The passages in this section are usually short and not lengthy like they have it in CAT. There will be 2 passages. The questions would be based on vocabulary, inference and reasoning (fact-based). Total questions in this section would be 10 out of which 4 are inference-based and 6 are fact-based. Practicing a few reading comprehensions would be sufficient before the exam.
3- Grammar
The grammar section would include 3-4 questions. They wouldn’t be too difficult. Do not skip it.
The other topics are important but if your main focus must be on these 3 topics. You should target 20-25 questions in the General English section in order to clear the cutoff. All the best!
