Excerpts from the interview:
Q. How has being a campus recruiter enhanced your skills and experience?
Being a campus recruiter demands you wear many hats. It has made me think out of the box, and always be on my toes to keep up with the competition in the market.
Q. Tell us an innovation you have introduced in the campus recruitment space that you are very proud of.
I am very proud of having been part of a gamified simulation assessment tool that helped us assess the best of the best talent.
Q. What do you look for in a student when you hire from campus?
There are three things I look for in a student:
- Eagerness to take responsibility over and above one's job role.
- Passion in anything and everything he/she does.
- Quick learners who can be an asset to the firm.
Q. What is your favorite question to ask a candidate during an interview?
My favourite question to ask is, “Tell me something about yourself that is not on your resume.” I usually ask this question to check the candidate’s organizational fitment and culture fit. Skills and knowledge are not everything, attitude matters too.
Q. Tell us a memorable/funny/inspiring anecdote from your campus recruiting experience.
Me : What are your strengths?
Student : I am very confident and positive in life.
ME : Give me an example.
Student : Sure! When can I join?
Q. Who makes an ideal campus recruiter?
An ideal campus recruiter is someone who knows the current trends in the campus space, has a lot of connections to keep up with technology and best practises in the market, and can sell the job and the firm to the talent in a way they cannot reject.
Q. What do you see as some of the emerging trends in the campus recruiting space?
I can think of three emerging trends in campus recruiting. Namely:
- Technology-based connection to interact with Millennials.
- Social Media Marketing to tap top talent.
- High priority given to Diversity Hiring.
