Prof. Soumendra Bagchi is an Associate Professor in the area of Human Resource Management at XLRI Jamshedpur. A Civil Engineer and an IIM A Fellow, some of the areas he focuses on teaching include - Human Resource Management in the Service Sector, Measuring HR, Performance Management, Performance Management and Appraisal, Strategic HRM, etc.

Prof. Bagchi draws from a rich experience across working on the evaluation of polytechnics for the State Govt. of Jharkhand, manpower planning study the State Govt. Of Jharkhand, designing performance management systems for Goa Shipyard Limited, Mazagon Docks Limited, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Andaman & Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited and Flipkart. Further, having published various scholarly books like The Baranagar Jute Mill Killings: An Exploratory Formulative Case Study of Employee Retaliation in Industrial Relations, Performance Management: Theory and Cases. L Gurunathan: "Probably one of the best professors in the B-School circuit, Professor Guru has served on the Sixth Pay Commission of GOI and is a Subject Matter Expert when it comes to Compensation and Benefits. The best thing about his pedagogy is the way he conducts his lecture based on classroom discussions and brings in perspective that we could have never imagined. The course was never limited to a specific function but was linked to various aspects of the business and it signified how a specific function in the HR domain can have far reaching business implications. Beyond this, his witty remarks makes the classroom atmosphere very lively and engaging."
Sabyasachi Sengupta: "The most calm, composed and competent finance faculty that you can find in any of the B schools across the country.
