Challenges are a part of life: they demand struggle, test perseverance and teach life lessons. I have faced a lot of challenges in my life: at home, school, college and office. I will share my experience about the one that I faced while I was working on an academic project during graduation in final semester. The project that I was working on was on optimization and I was working in a team of 4. Our team was working in a factory that belonged to one of my team-mates. Although the whole project was data-centric, it was really difficult to collect data or dive deep into the previous records of the factory as they did not collect the data in an organized manner. The stakes were high as it was the final project and had a direct impact on our final grades. Moreover, it was a live project and the impact was going to be real, if any. We decided to proceed ourselves and collect all the data that we needed without relying on the previous records. 4 of us worked really hard on weekdays and weekends. We were finally able to get enough data and perform all the analytics to deliver our final report. We received appreciation from the faculty and our mentor for our work, and the impact of our work in the factory was also significant as we were able to reduce the wastage and re-work time of the workers, thereby saving some economical cost. The challenge was to not lost hope and continue with the aim set in our minds. The challenge was to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. The challenge was to think about the impact of our work whenever we lost hope. And the challenge was to NEVER GIVE UP!
