Aditya Birla is one of those brands that speaks for itself. The presence of the group is so massive across different sectors that it’s hard for one to cross his/her day without the presence of a product or a service from Aditya Birla Group. The brand ABG holds immense respect among every individual not only because of the trust that it upholds as a brand but also due to the social service that it provides to society. The Multinational Conglomerate, works in 5,000 villages, reaches out to 7.5 million people, treated over a million patients, runs 5,000 medical camps and 20 hospitals, immunized 70 million children against polio, operates 56 schools for 46,500 children, provided solar lamps for 450,000 school children, midday meals every day for 63,000 children and provides skill training for 95,000 people.
Without a second thought, I could say not even a single day in my life has passed through without using an ABG product, from the Idea Cellular that I use to connect with my family to the Louis Philippe or Allen Solly that I wear. I still recollect the brand logo on the sacks of cement which were used for the construction of our house and 15 years from then when I was working in the Commissioning of a Power Plant project, I recognized the same branded sack of cement getting unloaded, the UltraTech Cement. That is the trust that we keep upon the ABG. During my working days in Nellore, I still remember the day when the construction of a new shopping complex started, and the neighbors got excited saying it’s the `More Super Market` that will be constructed. I understood that the excitement was reasonable after the first shopping in the newly constructed `More Super Market`. It indeed operated with the focus of providing quality first and lived up to the expectations, having the freshest fruits to the latest cold storied products.
Challenges are exactly what makes life interesting to the core and overcoming them is what makes and gives life a meaning. Working in the commissioning phase of a Power Plant is a challenge itself where daily we faced new challenges. New tasks arise daily where the appropriate action needs to be taken with zero fraction of error. The biggest challenge started when the company was in the final stage of its commissioning, where it had to prove its stability by operating continuously for seventy-two hours. The trial runs and the failed attempts continued for more than six months. Since I was the one responsible for monitoring the branches of operations department for the commissioning, I was under immense pressure that kept building up as days passed by. Each failed attempt of operation escalated the gravity of the situation. We as a team prepared and modified tens and hundreds of operating procedures but found everything in vain. Each time we executed the procedure, we were facing new challenges and the stipulated time for finishing the commissioning was nearing. After months of brainstorming sessions with various departments within and outside the organization, we finally achieved our target after one ninety days of perseverant efforts on November 25th, 2016. The project as a whole was a reminder for me that depicted the fact that only rough seas make skillful sailors. I truly feel that the situations that I was given forth to handle, manage and cope up with, molded me in a positive way and I feel confident over my skillsets which my experience equipped me with.
