Determination, accompanied by perseverance and hard work guarantees success. I have seen my father translate this attitude into his business successfully which inspired me to aim high and always work hard to achieve my goals. But this was not an easy path for me. My biggest challenge in life has been an internal struggle to accept the failures I have gone through, learn to deal with them, and find a way to redefine my goals and achieve them.
It was during my graduation when I was pursuing my chartered accountancy course along with my degree. I had worked really hard for the next level of exam which was the IPCC examination but I failed the exam. This was really hard for me to accept that since I had worked day and night preparing for 16 hours a day giving it my all.
It was tough a tough call to make whether to spend another 3 months to prepare for the examination or think about other avenues. I didn’t want to give up on it just yet so I decided to work hard and take up this challenge of clearing the exam but as luck would have it, I failed again by a difference of 8 marks overall. This was really tough to deal with since I knew how hard I had worked for it. It brought my whole confidence down and I stopped believing in myself. But I didn’t want to give up on my dream of pursuing finance just yet.
So, I applied for an internship at a leading financial advisory firm and got it. I worked really hard there and got appreciated for all my efforts and work there. This motivated me to prepare for my MBA entrance exams. I put in my best efforts, prepared rigorously for a year and got into one of the most prestigious B-schools of India, NMIMS Mumbai.
This for me was by far the biggest step towards building the career that I want for myself and this B-school has helped me shape my personality and become the person I am today.
How The Aditya Birla Group Has Made An Impact On My Life
“Great businesses are never built on the quicksands of opportunism. I reiterate that, if living by our values means, perhaps growing at a pace slower than we would otherwise have liked, so be it. For us, leadership lies at the heart of knowing what we stand for.” - Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla (Chairman, Aditya Birla Group)
Such words have always inspired me. Aditya Birla is everywhere around us. From driving across the sea link or going to the malls for shopping, to even travelling via the trains. The Group reaches out to 7.5 million people across geographies. Their new campaign ‘Big in your life’ truly describes the impact they have on our lives and demonstrates how it has a huge contribution to people’s lives across the globe. Their CSR initiatives impact rural India in a great admirable way which other MNC's should emulate.
