To qualify for this test, it's imperative to be honest and truthful. This section analyses the mind & personality of the candidate. The institute, via this test, checks for consistency in the candidate. Go with your gut feeling while attempting this section; no second thoughts and contemplation. Just be yourself!!
According to the last MICAT, this section had 150 questions that have to be answered in 35 minutes. This year this might change.
The second section, although descriptive, tests your writing ability. You have to be quirky & give out of the box ideas.
This section entails four questions.
Three questions are based on a single given statement; it can be a general topic or based on current affairs. It can vary as there is no predetermined list of topics. You have to write 5 points for the idea, 5 points against and finally present your stance (and there is no right or wrong here!) - all within 250 words.
Please note that: All pointers mentioned should be different & repetition is not allowed.
The last question is the most exciting part, as it allows you to express yourself in ways which you have never imagined!!
You need to create a short story of 350 words out of 4 images. You are allowed to use them in any order and let the thoughts do the talking then.
But I am sorry to disappoint you here; all the writing and thinking in Section B have to be completed in 25 minutes! I think it's best to read a lot from diverse genres and work upon your grammar and spellings to ace in this section. I think you still have time, work on your vocabulary, and just read a lot till the "D" day arrives.
And please keep in mind that the writing part in MICAT has to be attempted online, so one should be adept at typing at a super-fast speed while thinking and no spelling mistakes.
The last section is your regular section, i.e., aptitude test. But there's a catch; let's see
One hundred and five minutes to solve four parts, namely Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, General Awareness, and Divergent & Convergent thinking.
The verbal, quant & DI are super easy as compared to CAT. For General Awareness, please read about brands, logos (a specialized marketing B-school, after all!), brand ambassadors, taglines, etc. One pro-tip here, please check out the marketing mind and mad over marketing page on Instagram to get the latest information about brands.
The divergent & convergent part can be challenging and needs extra effort because it is relatively different and new. This section consists of - word associations, statement & conclusion, proverbs & idiom related questions. Some sample papers are available on MICA's website, which gives a fair idea regarding the pattern. For some extra practice, get Career Launcher's Non-CAT mock test series.
For more information, please refer check MICA's admission timelines and selection process.
Some significant changes which are applicable from this year -
The online computer-based test duration has been reduced by thirty minutes; hence, it will be for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
The number of sections will be the same, i.e., psychometric, descriptive, and aptitude; however, the institute will reduce the number of questions.
Therefore the above time limits of the individual sections may or may not be the same.
Good luck and be calm while attempting MICAT.
