PART A

“Small beginnings are the launching pad to great endings”

These little beginnings propel us to climb the ladder of life and reach to the top. Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla is one such example. Being one among the 4th generation of the illustrious Birla family , his upbringing was done under very compelling circumstances where he was continuously made aware of his responsibilities , family name and wealth . He did his high school from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics and a bachelor's degree from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics of the University of Mumbai, and a MBA degree from London Business School.

He took over as chairman of the Aditya Birla Group in 1995, at the age of 28, following the death of his father Aditya Vikram Birla. Although he had the reins in his hand  Mr.Birla was still quite young to operate and manage this multinational conglomerate.

Yet he proved his mettle. During his tenure as chairman, the group's annual turnover has increased from US$3.33 Billion in 1995 to US$41 billion in 2015.He  has received several awards, including the International Advertising Association’s "CEO of the Year Award" in 2016; the US India Business Council's "Global Leadership Award" in 2014; Economic Times “Business Leader Award” in 2003 and 2013 and many more.

The Aditya Birla Group has impacted our lives in various phases. Be it the classic formals from Van Huesen and Allen Solly or comfortable and affordable clothing from Pantaloons.

Our humble abode has a strong foundation owing to them. High quality cement from UltraTech has helped us creating those memories.

In short ,Aditya Birla Group is omnipresent and you will enjoy their products in all stages of your life.

PART B:

Life is completely unpredictable . You never know what it holds for you next. It was early December morning of 2011 and I was preparing for my final exams beside my father. He was recovering from jaundice. Although he was recuperating ,yet a strange fear always gripped my mind. Fast forward to October 2013. He was diagnosed with cholangio carcinoma. An incurable cancer in the bile duct. For two months I saw him struggle going through repeated sessions of chemotherapy and our hope reducing with every visit to the doctor. My family was struggling financially and emotionally. It was December 5,2013 when the doctors lost all hope. I was completely shattered although I knew this day was coming.

December 6,2013 was the day I bid farewell to my father forever. He left us leaving a huge void in our lives . For months I couldn’t concentrate on my studies. I was in class 12 then. It was a period when nothing seems right.

But my mother came to my rescue . She helped me understand how the loss of one person should not indefinitely affect us . She assisted me in coping with this huge loss and focusing on my studies. There were times when I wanted to give up but my mother lifted me up .

I passed class 12 with flying colours scoring 95%. This mammoth feat couldn’t have been possible without the love and guidance of mother. She continues to inspire me to this date and urges me to dream big and work hard to achieve it.
