It has been almost a week since I have joined IIM Kashipur and there is one thing that I can vouch is it the best campus amongst all the new IIMs and probably the second most beautiful campus after IIM Kozhikode.
The campus is located in rural area but is emerging as one of the fastest growing industrial areas in India. The humid subtropical climate of Kashipur is suitable for food and textile industry. As a result, a lot of industries are being setup like Dabur, Britannia, etc.
Now since the campus is located in a rural area, it gives immense opportunities for students to study the rural demography of India and get a different perspective on it. I wanted to pursue my career in retail business which makes it imperative to have knowledge of both Urban and rural area. So, the choice was really obvious for me.
The first thing that you will notice when you enter the campus is the red building (the academic block) and the big circles carved out of the wall will demand your immediate attention. The campus is sprawled over 200 acres including state of the art facilities such as Mess, Hostels, Auditorium. The hostels are employed with radiant cooling which goes in line with the philosophy of IIM Kashipur i.e. sustainable management.
MBA course is as much about the experience that you gain in 2 years as it is about the academics. You need to attend classes, have group meeting, and participate in college activities and all these things are being facilitated at new campus of IIM Kashipur.
The campus has fully fledged sports facilities. You can find Basketball, volleyball courts, cricket and football ground. There are Badminton and table tennis courts as well.
The unique position of campus gives opportunities for travelers and nomads to pack their bags and ride on their bikes to mesmerizing places such as Jim Corbett National park, Nainital, Dehradun etc.
The college has special elective course designed by World bank (Thanks to Dr Baharul Islam sir!) and after completing it you get certification from World bank as well. The college has 13 Bloomberg terminals, add that with a library stocked with Harvard business review magazines and a management student could not ask for more.
TEDxIIMKashipur is one of the events that every student here looks forward to. Till date the stage has been graced by the presence of eminent personalities like Sonal Dabral, Dr Seema Rao and Syed Nazakat. Do check out the videos on YouTube.
IIM Kashipur also offers student exchange programs to its students. The institute has collaborated with top rated b-schools in world viz. Ecole De Management de Normandie (EM Normandie), Caen, Le Havre, Deauville, France as well as École supérieure pour le développement économique et social (ESDES) School of Business and Management, Lyon, France, AIT Bangkok and FPT School of Business Vietnam.
So, to cut long story short, it has been an amazing experience to be part of IIM Kashipur family.

The Aditya Birla group has really expanded their fashion business in recent years. I would love to work for one of the clothing brands such as Peter England or Pantaloons. The Will present me an opportunity to understand customer behavior and their buying patterns. It would be interesting to analyze the pattern and come up with new ideas to improve sales. Working with such reputed brand will also help me understand how brands are created and customer loyalty could be gained.
