Being a student of the prestigious Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM)-Pune, I can honestly say that my campus stands out from that of the other Business Schools. It is located among the plush green environs of the Lavale Hills, which is about 20KM from the Pune city. The campus is located over a valley, as a result of which we experience some amazing views of the sky as it changes colours throughout the day. It is truly a photographer’s paradise. During the monsoon, the entire campus is painted green and the clouds brush past us as we walk towards our classrooms. It is an out of the world feeling to see a rainbow almost every other day during the monsoons. At night, we get some amazing views of the city from different vantage points of the campus. The view from the helipad grounds or the amphitheatre will leave you mesmerized. The city lights sparkle far away in an enticing manner and the distant traffic lights seem as if they are hypnotizing. No wonder so many impromptu jamming sessions happen at these locations. During the night, it is magical to see the neon sign of Symbiosis being encompassed by fleeting clouds and the entire place seems like it has been airbrushed with the colour red. Being far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, not only do we get an effective and peaceful environment to study, but also a pollution-free environment to live in. We strongly believe in harnessing the power of alternate sources of energy, as a result of which the campus is powered using Solar sources. We also have a Rainwater harvesting project to conserve water and effectively re-use it for different purposes. The Lavale hills are also home to various species of life and we are often greeted by one of the resident peacocks of the campus as we go for our morning walks. The campus is considered a Green Zone, due to which students are not allowed to park their vehicles. We are encouraged to walk or to use the bicycles provided by the institute.
Symbiosis has taken a strong stand with regard to waste management and the students of this institute equally contribute to that by effectively disposing the waste products. We have dustbins which have segregated Dry and Wet Waste bins and we adhere to the rules making the campus clean and spotless. We are also very proud of the fact that we have managed to keep the bio-diversity intact despite building an entire college campus on the hills. The campus boasts of it’s lush greenery and natural treasures, but it also has student hostels, a state of the art auditorium, central library, gymnasium, health care centre, shopping area and a swimming pool. This proves that Symbiosis stands true to its name, a perfect harmony between man and nature.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank Limited.
The banking system in India is about to undergo a major paradigm shift. With the conventional banks failing to extend their services to a large segment of the rural population, payment banks will come to the rescue. Idea Payments Bank, with its aggressive expansion plans and customer centric approach, is primed to be the people’s choice as their banking partner. I would very much like to have a seat for the ride and I believe my value system is a fit for what Aditya Birla Group stands for.
