We all face challenges every day, the winners are the ones that overcome. Taekwondo is a sport I’ve been playing from the time I was 4 years old. In the beginning, I wasn’t particularly interested in it but it slowly grew onto me. I began to enjoy the sport which eventually led to developing an interest in participating in tournaments.

My first tournament was an eye-opening experience, not only did I lose, I was quite literally knocked out in the first round of the first match. This did not deter me though and I realized that being just interested in something was going to get me nowhere.  I had to actually put some effort into it, practice and get better if I actually wanted to win something. That was what I did, I had a set target in mind and I began to work towards it. The next tournament I participated in, I still lost but at least I didn’t lose in the first round. A few tournaments down the line though, I had my first state championship and consequently, I won the south zone Taekwondo tournament as well.

Getting into a good B-school isn’t easy, you have to clear exams, get past group discussions and clear interviews. My first attempt at the CAT was a horrendous affair, I couldn’t even clear the sectional cut-offs. The second, though better was still not close to where I wanted to end up, this time though I realized where I was going wrong.

The 3rd time around, I prepared for the exam, gave mock tests and made sure I was ready for the test. No surprise, I managed a respectable score and was able to get into one of the top B-schools in India.

Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life

One among the three traditional “basic needs” of a human being is clothing and you’ll be hard pressed to find a bigger name in fashion than Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. The first time away from home for anyone is momentous, it can make or break you. I did my undergrad in a residential college, far away from the comforts of home and everything familiar. No longer constrained to a uniform, I had the opportunity to choose what I’d wear to class every day and I found myself outside a retail outlet of Peter England. What we wear does provide a measure of confidence doesn’t it? Well, it did for me anyway. Over the years my tastes may have changed but ABFRL seems to have remained a constant from Allen Solly to Louis Philippe to Van Heusen. In fact, the suit I wore to my interview at NMIMS was one from the Van Heusen collection.

Another basic need in the modernized world is the need tostay connected, the internet is vital to the survival of organisations and even people. Vodafone Idea Limited is the leading telecom service provider in Indiaand second largest globally. Idea, with over 196 million connections in 2017 provides fast and hassle-free connection to about a sixth of India. I first used Idea in 2016 after being thoroughly frustrated by call drops on other networks. When forgetting my phone at home can have a crippling effect on me, the fact that the Aditya Birla Group has made sure I’ve remained connected for 3 years makes it big in my life.
