Aditya Birla Group has been serving generations, even during British India. I have bought a number of ABG products for me and my family. Like everyone, I also have a huge attachment to many brands which comes under ABG.
As there are a number of big brands under Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL), I used to get confused about which one to choose. So now I have clothes from almost all of these brands. I am sharing my experience related to a few of these brands.
Louis Philippe - As the name is inspired by the French King, the clothes gives one a royal touch. I bought a suit for my father on the occasion of my parents’ anniversary. It was quite expensive but was worthy of its name. For the best quality, I recommend this brand.
Van Heusen - It is known particularly for its shirts. I have never bought one but have seen lots of my friends buying the brand. The brand showcases professionalism and power.
Allen Solly - This brand is unique when one talks about trends. Whenever I see their posters around, I find lots of colours mixing together and creating outstanding stuff. I personally have many jeans from Allen Solly.
Peter England - I have invested the maximum of my money to this brand. I buy clothes from Peter England on a monthly basis. It’s quite economical for me.
Forever 21 - I remember waiting for hours outside the trial room, where my sisters tried as many clothes as I had seen any day. Whenever a group of girls talk about clothes, one can easily hear Forever 21 again and again in the discussion.
Pantaloons - Whenever I visit Pantaloons, I find hundreds of people roaming here and there. This makes the brand open to all the demographics one can imagine. I have visited the showrooms individually, with friends, with parents, etc.
UltraTech Cement Limited - Being number one in the cement industry in India, I have walked numerous times on Ultratech structures. My house at Bareilly was also constructed using its cement. I know many people working at Ultratech as I worked in the manufacturing sector. The way Ultratech has shown growth all over India is incredible. As Ultratech is expanding in other countries, it has a huge scope of growing internationally in the cement market.
More- Whenever I am at my Ghaziabad house, I have always shopped from MORE even having lots of options around. One of the sole reasons is service. After every transaction, I have given an outstanding rating to the store. I have many memories at More where children have clicked bad rating just out of curiosity and still the employees were so humble.
Hindalco- During childhood, my parents used to buy lots of utensils manufactured by Hindalco. Even during lunch, my mom used to cover chapatis with Hindalco's freshwrapp foils which were also used to play during lunch time at school.
Vodafone Idea- I am currently not using a Vodafone Idea sim but was a loyal customer for a long time. One thing I love the most about the brand is the content of the advertisement. I bought Idea for an amazing internet 3G speed. Many people like me are searching for amazing offers to switch to the new merger. I wish I could get one in future.
As I belong to HR, I am a huge fan of Dr. Santrupt Misra, Director, Global HR & CEO, Carbon Black Business at Aditya Birla Group, for his contributions in the field of HR. Our alumni and faculties motivate us to be like him.
To summarize, words are not enough to describe how big Aditya Birla Group is in my life.
Part B - How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
One can find different definitions of the term "challenges". It can be a situation, person, position, task etc. In my childhood, I used to envision challenge as a person. I was a very average student. Having a family of engineers meant scoring well at maths a compulsion. Dad's colleague's son was one of the toppers at school. He was a challenge for me. I studied hard using various tutors’ methodologies. Overall, he still scored more. But I scored more than him in maths in class 6th, which was an achievement for that little kid. For entire schooling, individuals were the definition of a challenge to me and it was hard work which helped me reach my goals.
In my first semester of college, I managed to score well. Marks were not the concern but then came extra-curricular goals. My batchmates were excited about societies/committees etc. For entering into a committee, one needed to clear a recruitment process. I cleared through some of them. The job roles were target based. I thought to complete the target is my ambition but further, I realised it's the situation in those job descriptions. Every new learning was like getting specialised in a niche role. This time it was not the hard work but smart work which helped me sail through difficult situations.
After getting some business knowledge through committee, I thought of using that knowledge in the real world and creating something new. I then joined my friend's start-up as a co-founder. To grow at a huge scale was ambition. Then I realised how challenging my position was. Handling a group of individuals and making them work was difficult. The task becomes more difficult when you are in the final year of college. We managed to attract a huge crowd for our product. We had a few successes but ultimately we stopped the venture.
Right now, my current ambition is to survive my MBA curriculum and get placed into a good company. The current challenge I face is managing time and maintaining college-life balance. #NMIMSMumbai #ABGLPWooMe #ABGLP #NMIMS
