It was one of those sultry summer afternoons of 2012. Our whole society, located in one of the remote locations of Patna, Bihar was waiting for this special day.
It was the day Aditya Birla Group opened its fashion retail store, Pantaloons, near our house. It might not sound like an event worth waiting for most of the people living in metro cities. But for us, it was like a breath of fresh air. It was the first fashion retail store in locality, back in those days. I remember paying visit to it on that evening with my entire family. It was exciting day for all of us. We had earlier been to other stores in cities such as Delhi and Kolkata and aspired to have something like that in our own locality. It was one of those days that experience came closer to us, within our reach.
As days progressed, it became a like a ritual for me and my family to pay a visit to that store once a fortnight. It helped us to take a break form our monotonous life and indulge in one of our favorite guilty pleasure – Shopping. The hospitable staff and trendy cloths were something that attracted many people there. The area soon developed into a social gathering spot with may eateries popping up near the store and it was a complete experience. Especially during festivals such as Diwali and Holi the store was buzzing with happy people.
It has been 7 years since I left home for studies and job but whenever I go home, I make sure to visit that Panatloons with my entire family to indulge in our favorite activity- shopping.
