‘Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life’

Big is all about Great style!

What is big in my life is the influence of Fashion! Fashion for me reflects personality, uniqueness, identity, and character. I believe our fashion industry is a mere reflection of the society we live in. Imagine everyone wearing the same clothes every day. Wouldn’t that make life dull? ABG makes the world around us a bit more vibrant by adding an element of style to it.

Fashion has evolved greatly in India, Grasim Industries Limited started as a textile manufacturer as early as 1947. It also took upon itself to introduce the world of Linen fabric to India. The linen club range offers shirts, trousers, jackets, kurtas, and t-shirts that are perfectly suited to the tropical climate of our country.

Madura Fashion & Lifestyle and Pantaloons have come together in the form of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail limited in 2015. Having worked as a model for Madhura Fashion, I understand the thought behind the image the brand is trying to carve for itself and has been successful at doing so.

ABFRL has been an influencing force in my life. In the form of Peter England, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Louis Philippe, etc. Having recently acquired another favorite Forever21, it provides a peek into international fashion.  It is changing the way India sees fashion. With influences from the international market and India having a large millennial population that aspires for more, to be different, ABFRL is the one-stop solution. Van Heusen’s recent foray into lingerie was refreshing in the form of sleek designs and vibrant colors. A mere reflection of the changing status of women in our society.

‘How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far’

In order for you to be able to understand my journey, it is important that I throw some light on the path I took. After having completed my engineering in electronics from Mumbai University, my life was going just fine. I had just secured a job as a web developer and that is when I decided to pursue modeling.

Coming from a moderately conservative, yet extremely humble family, it came as a shock to my parents. They thought I am throwing away a perfect life for something that, for one, the society didn’t approve off (hence didn’t they) and second didn’t ensure me having a “secure” life.

Today having represented India at the Asia Model contest (2015), featured in TV shows like India’s Next Top Model Season 1 & walked for all the possible fashion weeks across the country, I think I am quite secure. Not in the way my parents intended me to be (financially maybe) but in a way that I believe in myself and I am ready to conquer anything thrown at me.

The modeling industry in our country is growing and is relatively unorganized and a difficult place to be in. I aim at using my experiences of handling cut-throat competition, creating a network for myself, negotiating for myself and hence creating My Brand.

I truly believe having taken this plunge into the modeling world, I discovered myself, I was exposed to situations that made me vulnerable and pushed me to test my limits. I derived energy from the criticism and rejection I faced early on, which was difficult, not to take personally. It didn’t kill me, it made me stronger.

My next venture is, what I am currently doing, an MBA in marketing. In order to extend these skills for a greater purpose, I seek the opportunity to make a difference to the world we live in.
