Known to be India's first global company, Aditya Birla Group has become a household name today. Being a multinational conglomerate, with a net worth of US $44.3 billion, the business is widespread in sectors of metals, textile, black carbon, telecom and cement. No doubt that failure of an encounter with any of their products is highly unlikely. ABG stands number one in aluminum rolling, viscose staple fibre and carbon black globally and is the third largest producer of cement in the world.
So here is how i was first acquainted with the ABG group when I happened to visit a construction site with my father (who is a government contractor). True to its name, Ultratech Cement by ABG was the first choice of the engineers working at the site. Its quality to withstand the aggressive environment was fit for construction of a school building then and this association with the ABG group has raised many such buildings as well my family over the years. Along with the cement, the iron used at these sites traces back its origin to Essel Mining Industries Limited by ABG, which is amongst India's largest iron ore mining companies. Not only this, Ultratech provides a number of products to cater to the needs of various aspects of construction, ranging for foundation to finish, namely grey and white cement, concrete, Ultratech building products and building solutions. Over the years ABG group has proved to be a backbone of most of the buildings around India and so for the families like mine. I have seen my father and my family come a long way from where we started and I'm not wrong in giving if not all but some much deserved credit to Aditya Birla Group and its products for this.
Unlike ABG, my familiarity with commerce and marketing came late. Despite being one of the best students of the science background, my young mind wanted to play with the numbers of the market and I was willing to give up the technical side of my profession to dive into trade. All through my life I have been an achiever and a little rashness in making this decision would have made me taste failure like never before. This decision was no doubt inconvenient but I was sure that i would put to use the best of my technical skills in this area and give great results. When I finally put myself into gear to get through it, life hit me hard. Two months from the examination and I was withdrawn from my preparations because of a major setback in my family. My presence was extremely necessary elsewhere and I was drained physically, mentally and emotionally by the time the examination approached. I attempted my exam with the little faith on all that i had grasped during the initial preparations and the rest on God. Things didn't seem to be working in my favour but it all turned out well when I could convert one of the best B schools of the country. My start would have been rough but i aim to be the best in this game, taking lessons from the ABG.
